Incognito situation is pretty complicated. I think he got screwed by Martin because he was an easy guy to scapegoat because people would believe it because of incognito's past. He could be a pretty nice upgrade if he can behave. He's out of the same mold as Mankins. Would love to have another tough son of a ***** on that line. A lot of it depends on what you believe happened and didn't happen with Incognito's story. It's possible he did get his **** together in Miami and would have been fine if Martin didn't screw him(if Martin was in the wrong that is).
Amazing how Incognito has suddenly improved is play AFTER his bullying scandal. From I what I remember, the terms tough and dirty was what you expected to here in a discussion of Incognito's skills, not skilled and effective. When he played on the Dolphins he was never considered a plus OLman. He's the opitome of a JAG with baggage. Now he's a JAG with even more baggage.

I can't understand how a savvy fan base such as ours could even conceive of a world where adding Ricky Incognito would be an upgrade over what we have, including Josh Kline. Is Incognito another example of our "everybody is better than what we have" syndrome?, or is it simply a case of the "shiny new toy" syndrome. Either way its not our finest moment. ;)

The $8MM/yr GUARANTEED 2 year deal that the Bears just paid for Jared Allen's services show how unrealistic any thought of him joining the Pats really was. However it did get me thinking about this anomaly. I think that as a total football player, Vince Wilfolk is better than Jarod Allen, but if I had to pay one player $8MM/yr for the next 2 years, I'd have to take Allen at this point in their careers.

If BB felt that $8MM/yr was completely out of reach for Allen, how can he justify paying Vince the same?

Not sure. I don't know Incognito that well tbh. I've heard he's a pretty good player. Does draw a lot of dumb personal fouls though which is concerning.

The last season Incognito actually played in its entirety he made the pro bowl, the dolphins averaged112 per game on the ground that year and he was not flagged for a single PF that entire season.

He played 16 games and only had 6 penalties.

They traded Moss because his on-field play had declined markedly. Last season Wallace caught 73 passes in an offense that had no offensive line, didn't draw up plays for him, and had a QB who was completely out of sync when it came to throwing deep to him. He sure as hell didn't accomplish that just because of running fast on go routes.

I'm not saying that the Patriots should run out and make this move. I'm answering the question of why they would. They'd make it because Wallace can play and can fill a needed role.

And, whether people care to admit it or not, Incognito would be an upgrade for the IOL, and had the backing of his teammates. I don't expect the Patriots to sign him, but that doesn't mean I'm going to change my evaluation of his play in comparison to Connolly-Wendell.

I would still take Incognito on this team. I'll be the first to acknowledge that he's a dirtbag, but I'd rather employ a dirtbag and have Brady be well-protected than hang Brady out to dry in an effort to keep a locker room full of Good Guys(tm). Pats need to upgrade the interior of the OL, and Incognito would be an upgrade.

If Incognito was a JAG, he would have been out of the league the better part of a decade ago. Locker room cancer/JAG is a combination that doesn't last long in the league. You only stick around with an attitude and reputation like his is if you're good enough to get signed even with all of the baggage. And even then, those are the guys who typically get booted out of the league pretty hard the moment their play slips to anything even approaching JAG level.

The only reason why he's still around, in spite of being a universally acknowledged locker room cancer and dirty player (which he's been known as his entire career) is because if nothing else he's at least a good football player.

Make no mistake, part of Jared Allen’s reason for choosing the #Bears was his faith in Jay Cutler as a QB who can win titles.

Jared Allen must have been drunk when signing with the Bears then

Lots of things in life change, but the Raiders will always be the Raiders.

It's kinda sad, a bunch of my friends out here are Raiders fans, and I have to feign excitement for them whenever they sign another one of these guys. All the Lamarr Woodleys and Justin Tucks in the world won't get you anywhere when Matt Schaub is your quarterback.

Anytime you can hitch your wagon to a 30 year old QB who has never hit 90 QBR for a season, has never thrown for 30 TDs, is good for about one inexplicable pick per game, has only won one playoff game in his career, and was outperformed last year by his 34 year old journeyman backup, you gotta go for it. That's the guy who's going to take you to the promised land.

Generally, I think it's a bad sign when a QB is 30 and everyone's still talking about his potential. If you haven't hit your ceiling by then, you're not going to.

becasue of his faith in Cutler? CUTLER? Yes..we all know how many BIG games he has won Mr. Allen

Lest we forget, Jared Allen is his own brand of crazy.

There is going to be a point in time, perhaps far in the distant future, that even fans in Denver are going to realize that Josh McDaniel did the right thing getting rid of Cutler.

Cutler (+ Bears) v. Schaub (+ Raiders)

I'm taking Cutler, too.

It's a huge step up from the vikings at least.

I'd have taken 1 million per year average less (or what we know to be reported) to play in CHI instead of OAK as well, especially if I were coming off of a 70-80 million dollar contract with the Vikings.

I mean, really--what is Jared Allen going to say about Cutler? "He sucks?"

Cutler hasn't proven himself the way that "elite" QBs do, but he's certainly capable of slinging the ball around to Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey, and Martellus Bennett. Having Matt Forte as your bell-cow RB isn't a bad thing either.

It's a much better situation than Allen had in MIN, or potentially OAK as well.

Evan Mathis supposedly available for trade. Maybe a 6th rounder would do it. I think he would be good. Need some cap space, ahem, cut Wilfork.
