Should just be a 15 yard penalty if you break the thing like Graham does. Otherwise who cares?

The concern is obviously when they pass the new rule tomorrow that increases the goalposts another 5 feet.

I would imagine the NFL is covering their asses for when a much larger goalpost falls down, no?

Seems more than appropriate to me.

If you want to dunk the ball, play Basketball.

Breaking the posts is an unnecessary delay to the game and there's plenty of other, better, ways to celebrate scoring a TD.

The "harm" is that on several occasions over the past few years, players literally dunked so hard that it tilted the goalpost and the game had a major delay while they had to fix it.

Right.. that's the point- to avoid unnecessary game delay trying to recalibrate the goalposts.

Yep. I know it's cool to bash the rules but there's no reason to have players "celebrating" by tilting the goalposts. This was an obvious problem that needed to be fixed.

To be fair basketball is a joke of a sport and anyone who shows that they like it on the field should be given a 30 yard penalty and $20,000 fine

The Gronk Spike is a far more engaging celebration.

Who makes these lousy goalposts? They deserve a fine and lifetime ban.
