2014 Draft Prospect Thread

May I officially declare Mr Fiedorowicz my binkie? A big guy who catches the ball and likes hitting people. Works for me.

Welcome aboard the Fiedorowicz hype train! :D

Welcome aboard the Fiedorowicz hype train! :D

Thank you. I don't often have binkies and they usually seem to be wide receivers:

Sidney Rice, Mario Manningham, T.Y. Hilton, Joseph Fauria -- and Ryan Mallett (that I can recall). And now Mr Fiedorowicz.

From Mike Loyko on Twitter:

Working on reports for some Centers. Russell Bodine is one of the meanest http://S.O.Bs in the draft. Powerful punching power.

Kelvin Benjamin really won't surprise me as our first round pick. BB has shown that he wants to get bigger in the receiving corps and Benjamin in the slot is like having a move TE in that slot. He signed Mark Harrison last year and they've had contact with Brandon Coleman so far this year. Benjamin is of that type.

I'm not Benjamin's biggest fan but that game winning TD catch in the Championship game will always be in my mind. It would be nice to give Brady that sort of threat*

* I know many envisage LaFell in that role which is fair enough. But Benjamin was made from an altogether different mould with that size and potential catch radius. LaFell would be a good transition player though in this scenario meaning that Benjamin wouldn't be needed to be rushed.

I am not advocating drafting Benjamin in the first, I just think that his unique frame makes him the sort of player BB might draft. The Nate Solder of the WR world.

I've had that thought for some time, though I don't want to go WR, and I'm not a huge Benjamin fan. But he would be a great red zone target, and that's one of the keys to winning football games.

I'm just starting on my draft board. Another player that could be interesting is UNC's James Hurst. He was being projected as a possible first rounder pre-season but has fallen because of injury and the Pats had a high grade on UNC's RT last year Brennan Williams so it's possible they might have similar on James Hurst (obviously that's just a guess). I think he's very interesting as a day three pick.

I haven't followed top-100 WRs because of what I feel are bigger needs elsewhere,
but if Bill decides that Benjamin could provide enough blocking in the running game,
especially the wham/crack-back types from formations that put him in motion from
wide to tight, then perhaps this is the TE we've been looking for the whole time. He
certainly has the height/length/bulk for the position, and the willingness to catch in
traffic and btwn the hashes. I doubt it happens, but with Bill one never knows...

If you are expecting a DL in the first round, you are crazy.

It is our #1 priority, so IT IS OBVIOUS that we won't draft anyone of the position until the 4th round

Yep. None of our wide receivers are really red zone options.

Edelman? He has had some success finding the endzone but off hand most of those plays were plays where he was the 4th read or something/were a product of great protection more than anything else.

Ditto Amendola, I don't see him stretching the field horizontally in the RZ other than in the Wes running outs sense.

Dobson has not been a RZ target at any point in his career, and other than being 6'3" there's not reason to expect it to start now. Gets outmuscled. Same with Thompkins, not competitive at the point of catch. I like him more than most, but KT isn't physical enough.

LaFell is probably our best RZ target right now.

Another interesting UDFA rarget that I think will be considered by BB:

1. Erik Lora, WR.

Jimmy Garoppolo's main target. Put Patriots like numbers at his pro day:

Erik Lora, WR, Eastern Illinois: Lora (5-10 3/8, 203 pounds), a former teammate of Garoppolo’s, looked very good catching the ball and posted times of 4.49 and 4.53 in the 40. He had a 36-inch vertical and a broad jump of 9 feet, 11 inches. His short shuttle time was 4.18, and his 3-cone drill was 6.76 seconds. He’s probably a priority free agent.

Garoppolo wasn?t only standout at Northwestern pro day - NFL.com

Teams who pass on Bridgewater are going to regret it.

Zero interceptions and a 50% plus completion percentage when forced from the pocket.

Thanks to Justis Mosqueda for this.

Stephon Tuitt (RDE) against Andrus Peat (LT) who is being talked of as potentially the #1 LT in next years draft.

An extra 4th rounder :rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

That's a pretty nice pick in a deep draft.

That's a pretty nice pick in a deep draft.

Players currently being projected by CBS to go around that 140th pick.

Caraun Reid
Antone Exum
Devin Street

Bryan Stork
Aaron Murray
Lamin Barrow
Tyler Gaffney
Crockett Gillmore
Prince Shembo
Ahmad Dixon
Brandon Coleman
Phillip Gaines

The bolded are all players I'd be very pleased to have.

Gaining an extra Exum/Gaines/Andre Williams is pretty sweet.

1. You might need help for your obsession.

2. It's actually very noticeable on that right hand gif just how soft his hands are.

1. If I see something, I post it. I do think Boyd is going to represent great value.

2. The slow motion makes it easy.
