Official Binkie Thread

Louis Nix III
Ra'Shede Hageman
CJ Mosley
Trey Millard

- Trai Turner has also been discussed in detail, and is one of the favorite day 3 interior OL prospects on the board.

This is a guy I think will go much higher than people are currently projecting. I've seen him mocked as high as the late 1st round recently and I could see him having a Marcus Martin type jump up boards when media rankings catch up with teams rankings.

1. (All day every day) ASJ
2. Jeff Janis
3. Bitonio
4. Cooks
5. Aaron Donald

Marcus Smith for me.

I've got it narrowed down to about 60 Binkies.

I'll, uh...have to get back to you.

Will Work For Draft Picks

I can see it now . . .

Watch as a cantankerous Patriots fan chooses among dozens of potential draftees to find the one he has an irrational desire to see on his team . . . .

Tune in to ABC Mondays at 8 for The Binky! :p

"Cantankerous."

I actually prefer "persnickety", but I'll roll with that!! :D

That would be very frustrating, as he is my day 3 interior OL sleeper right now. The draft should be just a month away in prior years, but we still have 6 1/2 weeks with the later date - more time for teams to do their homework. Sigh.

Right now Brandon Thomas, Joel Bitonio, Marcus Martin, Weston Richburg and Trai Turner are my 5 favorite interior OL prospects in the draft.

Do you see BB drafting Turner? I like him too but how often does BB draft sophomores? He rarely drafts 3 year juniors so I'm not sure he drafts a 3 year sophomore.

He redshirted in 2011, so he was in college for three years, and would be 21 years old this June 14. If Turner were a center, I would say know because I think Belichick will be looking for a day one starter at that position, but as a guard who will eventually replace Mankins I think he would draft a young player and bring him along slow. It would be in the fifth or sixth round if at all.

I had thought binkie on referred to late round (unknown) picks, but since it appears, I was wrong I would add some others from early rounds.

- Aaron Donald, DT Pittsburg
- Kareem Martin, DE USC
- Dominique Easley, DT Florida
- Donte Moncrief, WR Ole Miss

I see Turner as more of a RG rather than LG. Has BB ever drafted a sophomore (RS or otherwise)? I remember reading that BB almost always takes players that have graduated, unfortunately, I can't remember where I read it. I did find this (trust me, this will be the only time in my life I show any respect to The Daily Kos:

They are versatile and knowledgeable. In fact, the Patriots boast more college graduates than any other team in the NFL.

Bill Belichick the Progressive

That was written in 2012. The argument I remember reading was that BB likes players who have shown the commitment to stay in college and get their degree. I'm assuming that Turner won'y have graduated within his three years, although bear in mind that I don't know much about the American education system.

He reminds me of Donald Thomas in terms of size, strength, and athleticism. Like Thomas, he also seems to be very strong as a run blocker but has room for improvement in pass protection.

I am not sure if Belichick would draft him, but I do think he is an intriguing player in the later rounds if he is on the board. If they took Bitonio and a center early in the draft, I am not sure if he would fit a need however.

Leaving out players who are highly rated (Mack, Hageman, Bridgewater, Robinson, Donald) to keep things simple:

DT/DE Brent Urban

He looks like he's got a great combo of traits for the NFL. He's strong as an ox and he's got a good combo of long arms and a first step. He moves bodies in the run game and pushes the pocket. He just looks like a blue chip player. If his pro day goes well he's a surefire top 45 guy for me. Really underrated right now.

FB/TE/H-back Gator Hoskins

I love Hoskins and I love his fit on the Patriots. He can kinda sorta block and he's basically a receiver. Millard is a nice player skillswise but he's not the explosive downfield target that Hoskins is.

LB Jeremiah George

Niche fit because he's not that good at shedding blocks, and testing poorly at 5'11 is going to kill his stock. But he's got a great nose for the ball and looks really fluid in space. We need LB depth. Sign the beast as a PFA! He can be a cover/blitz/sideline to sideline guy.

DE Kareem Martin

Just oozes talent. I wouldn't call him a binky in that I don't like his play so much as his potential. If his character checks out there's no way you can let this guy pass by you in the 2nd without taking a shot. He's a 15 sacks a season type guy if everything clicks.

Ryan Shazier, probably the first guy out of this class that i mentioned here when we started talking about this draft last year. It trully was love at first sight.

Brent Urban, Joel Bitonio and Phillip Gaines. Super high on all this guys.

Urban is a name reserved for only the most ruthless characters.
