DeSean Jackson?

This reminds me of the "Moss to New England" trade rumors, before the draft in '07...Make it happen Bill!! We need a big play, offensive weapon!!!

It would be interesting if they got him. I am of the opinion they can spend 10M better than using it all on him. He is a good player but kind of a 1 trick pony.

However, if i were to make a case to get him here is what it would be this.

#1 Gronk insurance - We would still need a redzone option but if we get Jackson he could be a guy who opens things up for our numerous #2 options.

#2 He can do something none of our other WRs have proven they can do.

But most of all....

#3 He is a player Talib has proven unable to cover even when 100% healthy. This is a player that is specifically designed to help us beat Denver. That alone could be justification for getting him. I am curious what their answer would be.

Just some thoughts.

Why are Browner, Talib, and OchoCinco on that list?
Are you f***in serious!? Do your research!

Browner - Suspended 4 games in 2012. Suspended indefinitely in 2013. Just recently reinstated. Still has to serve a 4 game suspension in 2014, and is one more screw up away from being permanently banned from the NFL. I don't care if he was "loved by team mates" the guy is still a risk with redflags.

Talib - malcontent at the end of his Buc days. Fist fight with fellow team mate at the rookie symposium. Beat up a taxi driver. Resisted arrest. Had a warrant issued against him for pulling a gun on his sisters boyfriend. Accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Never finished a full season. Ongoing hip issues.

Ocho Cinco - NFL's biggest attention wh*re after Terrell Owens.

DeSean Jackson isn't nearly as bad as any of them. It seems his only issue is a personality conflict with Chip Kelly. Belichick has enough respect around the league and in the locker room that Jackson wouldn't dare oppose him.

My point is, if BB was willing to take risks with those guys than Desean Jackson isn't as far fetched as you think. Here's a guy who is 27 years old and still in the prime of his career. Jackson is coming off his best season ever, unlike Moss/Haynesworth/OchoCinco, who mostly everyone thought had regressed and were on the down-end of their careers. If you want a true #1 WR to give to Tom Brady, than 10 mil is what you gotta pay. That's just how the league is.

I like this one. Seriously, not one corner on the Broncos or Colts could cover this guy.

Would be so funny to see Talib struggle covering Jackson right after the Broncos overpaid him.

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 12m Been told the 49ers aren't interested in DeSean Jackson. Right now, they have $4.22M in cap space. And they have to budget for Kaepernick.

Jackson is a "me" first player. Don't see a good fit for him here. Seems to be a bit of a Dbag as well on the field

^^^ THIS!!!

The guy is one of the worst fits for our club. Complete douchebag. No thanks, as good as he is, I'll pass. Thank you.

We've guaranteed $1,000,000 of Browners contract. He's a 0 risk high reward player.

I'm not against Jackson on the team, I'm against trading for him, paying a cap hit of 12m/yr, and risking a guy holding out because he still doesn't velieve he's making enough money according to some reports.

Stupid.

It's not just about money. The Pats are investing TIME with Browner. The coaches time, and all the reps he gets with the starting team ahead of Dennard/Ryan. They are risking all the potential distractions he could cause. Plus he's taking the spot of someone else we could've signed with that money.

What if Browner is suspended the week before the playoffs? You don't think that risks being a huge distraction?

You really need to read into what his suspensions were for before you start making him out to be some really terrible guy

I'd rather trade for Justin Blackmon.

He just needs a new environment.

Comments like these blow my mind.

Blackmon has a REAL PROBLEM. He is an alcoholic who hasn't changed his ways yet (see how many times he has apologized/been found guilty).

Jackson is a punk but he hasn't been arrested to my knowledge.

These aren't comparable.

Jackson burnt him bad in the pre season last season. Don't see anyway this happens but, man would this be huge if they managed to nab D-jax. I wonder how book smart he is. Could be a lot to give up and pay if they aren't certain he can handle the playbook.

Go read up on the case about Browner. As for Talib gun charge, it was drop, his mother was the one who open fire. The sister's boyfriend was abusing her and the kids, it seem.

He's playing for an abysmal franchise. I'm not surprised he has a drinking problem. I'm being 100% serious too. I legitimately think he's depressed about being stuck there and wasting his time.

No, because he'll be banned from the team facilities if suspended.

Jackson is a malcontent making 12 million a year with an injury history who thinks he's underpaid.

It is about money. A lot of money. But you're right, it's not JUST about that. It's about the slew of other problems surrounding him.

Not only would he cost us 12 million and a 3rd or more, he'd also likely cost us Wilfork in the form of a cut.

I'm not willing to commit that to DJax.

Drugs.

I'm not making him out to be a terrible guy. That's NOT my point.

My point is, BB and the Pats are willing to take huge risks on players who have had issues, but a lot of upside.

So Desean Jackson isn't as far-fetched as some people in this thread are making him out to be.

The funny thing is unless a diamond drops from the sky, for those arguing the Patriots don't have a #1 WR on the roster, you generally have to pay for one.

Jackson's speed coming across the middle or working a reverse on a sweep etc. would be ridiculous behind Brady.

gets windy in Foxboro...a stiff breeze and Jackson would fracture both his ankles...no thanks.

Explain the huge risk with Browner, try to explain it. Consider everything.

I really want to understand this risk.

Malcontent? Not on the field.

He just put up 1,300+ yards, 9 TDs... his average of 16 yard per catch would give the Pats a threat they haven't had since Moss.

Top notch returner too.

It's about the slew of other problems surrounding him.
Bull****! Like what?

Jackson has a clean record.

I'm not willing to commit that to DJax.

Well good thing YOU wouldn't be committing 1 cent, Mr. Armchair GM.
