Glad to have Edelman back. :)

With the Defense we are going to Field in 2014 Teams are going to Punt more times than not. Unlike prior Patrot Defense this one will get Teams off the Field. We need a Punt returner with Great Hands and thats Edelman.

Well the slot receiver is probably the most reliable of Brady's weapons, it's his security blanket, so in fact, if we go down on that position, our offense would struggle a lot, so it's not hard to imagine that having 2 good players assigned to this role is a good insurance. Amendola will be Edelman's insurance and vice versa.

Both are injury prone, BB knows that.

Edelman said he signed a 4 year deal this morning on WAAF.

Speaks to how much they think of Edelman that they went up on their offer. He probably received an offer from SF or another team and took it back to the Patriots to give them a chance to match it. That's pure speculation on my part of course.

Depends on the actual contract. Year 4 could be "paper" year to help lower cap hit this year.

I heard it was 4 years, $22M with a max value of $28M. That was on some scrubs twitter so I'm not sure how credible it is.

That's a heck of a deal for him. Surprised he got that much.

Im not. Well not really, I think his elite ST play makes him worth the difference of an extra couple of million.

I'm sure Wes is happy for Julian.

If that true then Durability really pays because he was on the Field at the end.

Meanwhile, here are the numbers on WR Julian Edelman's deal w/ @Patriots: 4 years, $17m base, $2m more in incentives, $8m guaranteed.

It's strange, as Amendola was suppose to replace Welker, and Amendola was suppose to be Bradys' BINKY.

It would be a good idea for Amendola to head out west and get in some reps with Brady. He has a great opportunity to make a name for himself with one of the greatest QB's of all time. I think BB will give him one more year to see if he can connect with Brady. How good would it be to have Amendola, Dobson, Edelman and Gronk all on the same page as Brady?

Oh wow, what a deal for us.

That sounds more reasonable. Good contract for both, IMO.

Oh wow, what a deal for us.

Sounds extremely reasonable and relatively gentle on the cap, while protecting Edelman with some significant guaranteed $$. Plus given the details on LaFell, they have a core receiving group of Gronkowski, Edelman, Dobson & LaFell all signed for the next 3 years, which is terrific stability.

Pretty effing good deal for us, eh?!
