Poll Question (Vote Above)

Personally, I think they can reconcile, they had some heated discussion back at the time the current contract was signed, and they were able to resolve them and come to an agreement. Today’s events seem reactive and emotional; once the emotions pass thinking that is more rational occur.

The question is would you like to see them reconcile or do you think this team is better off moving in a different direction?

we already have a thread talking about this very issue

The pats may be a better team with Wilfork. But his current cost is prohibitive

Wilfork and the team are both better off waiting a couple of months while Wilfork rehabs. It is will then his decision. I would like to see come back at what he is worth after signing a physical.

ain't going to happen but I already miss the big guy. he kinda reminds me of Big Papi in a way.

It appeared as if the Patriots were in no rush to restructure Wilfork until the Revis situation, then they went to him 72 hours in to UFA. Either they poorly planned these discussions or they did not intend to ask Wilfork to restructure until they paid Revis $12M per season.

I would like to see them reconcile, the timing of this situation is not ideal, if we were going to move away from Wilfork it should have been done before UFA started so we had more options to properly replace him.

Yes. Vet min plus incentives. If he's 100% he'll earn his money. If not pats are protected. Don't know why he's so offended. It's reality. They want to win. Not spend another 8m on a guy who can't play.

You think that the first time that the team went to Wilfork was 72 hours into UFA (unless my arithmetic is wrong that is tomorrow at 4, but no matter)? Wilfork has known this discussion was coming since he signed the contract, and certainly since his injury. You can choose to believe that Wilfork and his agent had never discussed this issue among themselves or with the patriots. That is your right and privilege. You can choose to believe that Wilfork thought the team would simply smile and pay him $8M for this year's services and discussion an extension during camp.

Personally, I think Vince, Bianca and Vince's agent have been planning for this day for months.

BTW, are you in the market for some land in FL?

I wish there to be no bad blood but I don't want Vince taking up that much cap either. Divorce and draft Aaron Donald pls.

Like most of your either or analyses, there are dozens of facts and possibilites you trample over on the way to deciding it must be one of two things.

Reconcile.

One of the greatest Patriots ever. Would hate to see him in another teams uniform.

He belongs here!

Give Vince a little time to reconsider. Nobody knows how good he can be from the Achilles surgery and that is a tough injury for a man his size. It might be better to extend his career with the Pats by taking a pay cut and become a role player with less snaps. Works both ways, Pats save money and Vince's career is longer. He's a Pats fans favorite and it would be best for him to play his entire career with the Pats.

MG if they had gone to him earlier they would not be 2-3 (whatever you want to call it) into UFA with a huge hole on their team and now less options on the market to fill it. You do not think it would have served them better to conclude when players like Bryant, Jones, Joseph, Soliai, and others were still options on the UFA market. I am the one who would interested in some land, seriously, what world does it make sense to release Wilfork now instead of 4 days ago in?

Why would Bianca and his agent plan for the day that he demands his release from the Patriots, and if that was the case and you a fan of the team could see that they were planning for it. Why did Belichick and the Patriots not see it and make sure he did not let it drag 2-3 days into UFA?

This was poorly handled by the Patriots, the Wilfork situation has been what it is today for months and they should have and could have been way in front of it. Instead, they are dealing with it now. If you seriously believe that this was well planned and executed by the front office, than I have some land you may be interested in over in Iceland.

It is not that I trample over them; it is that I believe a front office filled with a top flight brain trust such as an NFL team should not be running 2 days behind on determining the possibility of restructuring a player who has been in their org for a decade.

The Patriots have not had a single DT even visit in the past few days, there has been no speculation of attempts to trade Wilfork, and this has gone nothing like the Revis, Sproles, or Smith situations.

I am not sure what scenarios you are seeing but I am missing them because either the Patriots got played and misled by Wilfork or they planned this terribly and it came back to bite them in the rear. If you have others scenarios please share them, because I would love to conclude a better reason.

I suggested long ago that the right time to negotiate a new deal was August, because there would be more information then about Wilfork's rehab.

I still think that.

If for cap reasons he has to be cut and then rehired, so be it.

That said, I recall how upset Seymour was at a late-summer cut, apparently because of the impact on his family. Wilfork may be trying to avoid the same scenario.

Lol at this ridiculously stupid thread and poll. Stop listening to dumbass talk radio crap. There is no "divorce" or "reconciling." One side didn't want to pay an aging guy whose skillset is obsolete to begin with and the other thinks he has better business options elsewhere. Football fans are literally the dumbest people alive.

Um, nothing about Vince Wilfork's skill set is "obsolete".

I would love for them to work it out but I think it was Wilfork that called it a slap in the face having the TAG put on him a few years ago, so with that it mind I think they are just to far off from what Wilfork thinks his worth and what the pats want to pay he will be gone soon,

i know the pats are a better team with him but if Kelly and Mayo can get back to what they was before there injuries the run defense will be ok with out him
