The Colts cut Samson Satele, their starting center in 2013, a week ago and they signed a player who could be in the mix to replace him on Thursday.

The team announced that they have signed former Cowboys center Phil Costa. No terms were announced.

“Phil is a young, hard-nosed and physical center who has shown he can play at a winning level in our league,” said Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson in the team’s announcement. “He will provide strong competition at the center position.”

Costa started all 16 games for the Cowboys in 2011 and began the next season as the starter before a dislocated ankle ended his season. The Cowboys drafted Travis Frederick in the first round last year, leaving Costa to spend most of the season on the bench and in a brief engagement to Hulk Hogan’s daughter.

Costa will likely say his prayers, eat his vitamins and compete with 2013 fourth-rounder Khaled Holmes for playing time during the offseason and training camp.

It took Ted Ginn Jr. some time to establish himself as an actual wide receiver in the NFL.

But it didn’t take him long to find a new job.

The Cardinals just announced they reached a three-year contract with the former Panthers wide receiver.

Ginn scored five touchdown on offense for the Panthers last year, or one fewer than the former first-rounder had scored in his first six seasons in the league.

He’s also continued to be a threat as a return man, and with the Cardinals, there’s no pressure on him to be more than a third option and a special-teamer.

The Dolphins are reportedly slated to meet with an experienced starting cornerback who’s trying to bounce back after a tough 2013 season.

According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, Miami will host former Rams corner Cortland Finnegan on Friday.

Just two years ago, Finnegan was regarded as one of the best free agents in the Class of 2012, and he signed a lucrative deal with St. Louis. However, he was limited to just seven games last season because of an injured thigh and a broken orbital bone, and the Rams released him last week.

Long known for his toughness and feistiness, the 30-year-old Finnegan has notched 601 tackles and 18 interceptions. If he could recapture his best form, the 5-foot-10, 179-pound cornerback would strengthen any defense. The Dolphins, it appears, are the first to give him a longer look.

The Cardinals are reportedly taking a look at former Jets cornerback Antonio Cromarie.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports Cromartie, a three-time Pro Bowler, will meet with Arizona on Thursday.

The Jets released Cromartie (6-2, 214) on Sunday. A ninth-year pro, Cromartie has intercepted 28 passes in regular season play, and he has missed just one game in his NFL career. He turns 30 in April.

Cromartie ranks No. 48 on PFT’s updated list of the top free agents of 2014.

Patrick Peterson and Jerraud Powers are the Cardinals’ top two cornerbacks.
