Harrison was released today. He probably won't demand much money, but could be a situational player (mainly as a pass rush), we've had success with guys like Seau in the past in this type of role. We know he's a hard worker, a bit of an odd-ball, but i don't think a problem

About as likely as Joey Porter back in the day.

Look at his production. No thank you.

I would rather have Woodley and I don't really want him.

Very true, but I am sure there were many that felt there was absolutely no way that Darrelle Revis would ever play for Belichick after he called him a jerk, or that the Patriots would ever acquire Randy Moss, Corey Dillon, Albert Haynesworth, etc.

I know Revis did the "jerk" think but Harrison, Clark and Porter with the ubiquitous mentioning of spy gate is another level.

Harrison is toast, don't want him at any price.

Guys hasn't the Revis deal taught us anything? Have patience... the Elway and the donks will give him a 3 year deal with 20 guaranteed.

Jared Allen...

A few things to consider with "Silverback"

  • He'll turn 36 in a few weeks.

  • Last year he was on the field for only 354 snaps, with 189 of those snaps coming in four games; that's down from 811 defensive snaps in 2012.

  • Harrison was scheduled to count just over $2 million against Cincinnati's cap in 2014; cutting him saved the Bengals $1,434,375 in cap room while leaving $600k of dead money. Harrison made $1.4 million in base salary last year and was due to make $1.1 million this year; he had a $1.2 million signing bonus.

  • The relatively small cap savings and salary may say a lot of what Cincy thought of his play; they already lost DE Michael Johnson, and they don't have any experienced depth at OLB. Harrison was okay against the run but appeared to have hit the wall last year, looking noticeably slower as a pass rusher - in which case, what's the point of signing him?

  • As everlong pointed out, his dislike of the Patriots and Bill Belichick is well documented; he may have zero desire to play in New England, even if the Patriots were interested.

A younger player like Wesley Woodyard would be a much better alternative in my opinion; even a guy like Rob Jackson or Jo-Lonn Dunbar would be preferable.

He'll have more personal fouls than impact plays on defense these days. Pass.

Harrison was always a POS, and now he's not very good at football either.

If I'm Belichick, I would maybe bring him in for a visit just to tell him to kiss my ass and wish him luck trying to find someone dumb enough to pay him more than the vet minimum. Wouldn't even entertain the possibility of signing him, though.

Re: How About James Harrison?

Pass. He'll always be a Steeler to me. Not just any Steeler, either.

Yeah, THAT kind of Steeler.

Whatever he might have left isn't worth giving him the honor of wearing a Patriot uniform.

He has always been the most fearsome hitter. Never forget him concussing Colt McCoy twice in like 2 minutes of game time. Couldn't believe Browns' coaching staff put him back in for Seneca Wallace. He got dinged a second time by Harrison. Oof.

But, who is more fearsome, physical or otherwise harder hitter than Brandon Spikes?
James Harrison. Makes sense to me. Like a Bryan Cox thing again!

He gave someone a German suplex once lol.
Why did the Bunguls cut him though? I can't imagine he has anything in the tank.

Re: How About James Harrison?

Last year when I was watching "Hard Knocks", thought to myself what a miserable self serving baztard this guy was...

Did not like him as a Steeler, a Bengal and do not think he is the guy for this team...
