Talib and Revis and Grimes sign for big money. Tillman likely to do so as well. All this while the self-styled best corner in the game, Richard Sherman remains on his rookie contract. Holdout, you think? Seattle's got to pay the man. I say he doesn't play until past midseason unless Seattle extends his contract. Corners are earning big $$ in free agency.

Yup Sherman is going to want 12m per now. But, I dunno if he will hold out this year... We'll see.

Blount called Talib the best in the NFL yesterday, Sherman refuted that describing why he's the best. I don't think he stops at 12 if he thinks he's better than Revis.

all it will take is a few pokes with the ferret stick and Sherman will explode...if I was a twitter user I'd be sending him pics of outhouses and boxes down by the river and calling him a hobo, ask him if needs to borrow any money or wants a hot meal...anything to make him snap. Once he snaps it's wall to wall ESPN/NFLN coverage...just what Petey DOESN'T need

I don't think you have considered how smart Sherman is I doubt he would snap. But he will have an idea of his market value. He will hit the open market next year anyway so I think they will be keen to extend him anyway. Patrick Peterson and Joe Haden will no doubt be close to getting paid big too. Right now Talib is still the yardstick to which guys contracts will be based long term.

It means he is going to get to play against his idol next season.

A nice little powerpoint showing him how much Talibs contract is and how much his is.

Caption, of course. "You mad, Bro"

If Sherman is smart, he won't hold out. If he has another season like his last 2, he'll get much more than Talib. Probably somewhere in the $12-14m a year range. He just has to be patient.

With that, and I'm not just saying this cuz he's a Patriot now, but Revis is the best CB in football, and the best since Deion Sanders. Sherman getting the attention now cuz he just won a SB, he's loud, and Revis past 2 years was out with an ACL, and down in Tampa, but everyone in football knows that.

Sherman is smart and I don't expect him to hold out. I think he will get paid if the hawks have the money to do it but he will get a huge contract wherever he ends up in 2015.

Sherman is going to want the biggest contract in the history of the NFL for a defensive player. I do not have a doubt in my mind of that.

The Hawks have to pay Russell Wilson too. He makes peanuts.

Its easy to say that Sherman should not hold out, but what happens if he suffers a a serious injury? His stock is high today and his shot at big money could be gone in an instant.

Call it selfish or whatever you want, but the Hawks would cut Sherman without batting an eye if was damaged goods and costing them money.

the last 2 days haven't changed what Sherman knew he would be worth as a free agent.
So this means nothing for him.
The only question for Seattle is if he'll honor his rookie contract. Who knows; and this is also not a question unique to Sherman; it's a question that comes up with pretty much every great rookie

When **** Sherman gets his big contract he should give some to the real star of that secondary, Earl Thomas.

It's really stupid to make up a scenario that hasn't happened yet and then hate the guy preemptively for what you imagine will happen.

Sherman can't hold out and the Seahawks can't renegotiate yet. That was part of the last CBA. After next year they can give him a contract.
