We. Have. Revis.

I just thought of something.

Lately, the NE defensive backfield has been the Devils Triangle for injuries. I mean, Adrian Wilson never made it out of TC. Talib was in and out of the lineup. The ex Browns CB whose name escapes me went to hell in a hand basket in NE. It seems like every year something goes wrong back there.

I hope Revis can stay healthy. The Pats are due for some good luck.

Apologies if this has been mentioned in the other 40+ pages, but this will be great for Dobson, Thompkins, Boyce to go up against him in practice and learn.

Now give me Smith and Nicks and ***** that sh.it

Learn/get schooled.

Its all good.

how many times is Tommy gonna get picked?

Good morning pats fans. Still can't believe we signed Revis. Glad I was wrong thinking they wouldn't spend the money. 2014 is going to be a great season!

IMO Revis is an ideal player to have on a one-year plan. After all, he's the one guy in the league who has been most willing to flout long-term contracts he's signed and hold out for more money. Plus barring injury, he's certain to be worth the franchise tag.

Man, Dennard and Dmac will improve a lot by osmosis.

I can't wait, another few pieces and this defense will definitely get much better and we can go bpa all along the draft.

Dennard must be celebrating burning some mattress right now :rocker:

Two Questions that i've been wondering since i saw this news come out

1.) Was Revis franchised already ?(wouldnt this drive price up if we wanted to again - about how high would it be?)
2.) This $12 million owed this year - is there any cap manipulation opportunity ?(I.E could we give him a large % Signing bonus to lower cap charge, or is that not allowed on a 1 year deal).

My wishlist for remainder of Free Agency (in order)
1. Restructure wilfork to get more cap room - maybe cut wilson as well (i still think he could be effective..)
2.) Re-sign Edelmen (5 years/25 mill?)
3.) Sign Browner, Woodyard, "Buy Low" OLB/DE rotational guy to supplement Ninko and Jones, possibly a depth WR (Avant, Lafell).
4.) DRAFT: Day 1-- TE,DE/DL Day 2-- Interior OL -- Im not going to try to guess every pick but my feeling is that this would cover our "holes" ..I also wouldnt be opposed to doing the classic BB 1st rounder swap for a 2nd/1st next year - seems like the value is in late 1st/early 2nd anyhow...

I would think that any money available to resign Edelman is gone. Unless the year 1 figure is below 3 million.

I don't believe he was. The franchise tag for him would be $14.4m. So a minimal increase.

But keep in mind, Pats free up $7.5m next year as Hernandez will be off the books and the cap will very likely be going up to around $145m in '15 and $160m in '16

Nope. 1 year $12m means 1 year $12m.

I'm in favor of most of what you wrote. I'm most worried about safety and WR however.

As for the draft, you gotta go BPA. If you're fixed on a DE, for instance, are you going to take one ahead of a top CB like D Dennard or a S like Calvin Pryor or a WR like M Evans? Gotta go BPA. TE is out of the question for me in the first round unless Ebron is there.

For you "All 22" subscribers....can you still view Revis' tape from Tampa 2013??

Miguel does a good job breaking down how they could free up some more money.

#1 & #7 were already done.

I love it.

I also have enjoyed the attempts at making this seem like a bad deal for the Patriots due to his attitude towards money and wanting as much as possible. I'm not sure *some* of them have considered that since preseason 2012, there has been the following happen.

- Had a serious injury that, while having plenty of people successfully come back from, still at some point may have made him question his career and how fragile it really is in the grand scheme. Perhaps it was his personal "It could be over at any time" moment.
- Went from one dysfunctional organization to another one, and this may have changed his perception on the importance of a professional organization.
- Played a season in which he was used improperly in terms of defensive schemes and assignments and this may have changed his perception on the importance of a good coaching staff.
- Played for a team having a dreadful season, which combined with the above may have changed the value of playing on a playoff team with good coaching, good front office and a favorable position regarding divisional opponents.

1) Leigh Bodden

2) and Talib didn't come out of it any worse for the wear, did he?

Great job in getting Revis, this will allow BB to do some fun things on defense

To be honest, I'm actually a bit annoyed.

I just finished reading about how Revis preferred the winless Bucs to thet Jets because he was making more money.

Then he goes on the air and tells the world how BB is a jerk.

Then $12M later, it's all good.

:bricks:

1) It's business.

2) The "winless Bucs" are probably a lot better place to work than "Wrecks' Circus"...and for more money to boot...win-win as far as I can see.

3) You want, maybe, a guy who loves the coach of his biggest rival? I want a guy with fire, who talks a little trash and then backs it up on the field. That's Revis. I really don't care what he called BB and I doubt Belichick cares much either.

4) $12M. One year? Upgrade the position AND stick it in the face of the Broncos and Jests? Be in the running for a (reasonable) long term deal in a year? As the commercial goes, "Priceless."

5) It's business.

Works for me.

Between Revis and Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones, I don't think the New England Patriots have EVER had 3 athletic freaks on the field at the same time in their history.

Now let's lock down that 6'4" 235lb Browner kid at ballhawking Safety (to go along with our existing ballhawking Safety McCourty) and let's set some defensive turnover records.

This truly is going to be fun to watch.

If they get Browner, then the draft turns into a TE and DT (gotta stop that run) fest.

He's a game changer for sure. He's so physical and can play against any outside guy and can also move in on the inside. When he played us he played over half the game against Wes as well as Moss.

I really like our defense a good mix of vets and young guys. It seems like there is chemistry and I like the leadership.

The real question is why he didn't make sure there was a no Franchise tag clause in the deal. Pats can always tag him if they can't make a deal.

Well, here's what I think. Would you opposed to being tagged to one of the best teams, with the best QB, one of the best cities, best head coach after being in Tampa and the New Jersey circus? Plus he's already made $82 million including this contract already and each tag is probably $11m or more. I think Revis knows what he's doing. Plus he knows he can not sign it and sit out I guess.
