With Talib signing with the broncos and most of the "marquee" free agents off the market, what do you think the pats next move/plan for the rest of the offseason is?

I think they should spend wisely this year and improve our future cap situation. Not sure Revis is the answer, but would be thrilled to have him for 11-12M a year. I think Edelman could be back. Bring in Woodyard and Decoud. Chris Clemons from Seattle would be an option if he is released. Also be intrigued by Henry Melton. I think Vince probably needs to go.

Cut Wilfork, Sopoaga, Wilson. Extend McCourty. Gives roughly $28m in cap room.

Sign Revis (10-12m)
Sign Starks or Melton (4m)
Sign pass rushing help (Ware, Allen, Tuck etc 3-6m)
Sign WR (Edelman/Nicks 3-4m)
Sign Blount (1.5m)
Sign interior o-line (2m)
Sign coverage LB (1.5m)

Use anything left over to look at safety/TE.

Now, I don't think all these moves happen but there's plenty we can still do to improve the team dramatically. I wouldn't fret just yet.

Cut Wilfork, Sopoaga, Wilson, maybe Kelly.

Extend 1 or 2 of Mankins, McCourty, Ghostkowski creating upwards of $30mil.

Sign or trade a 5th for Revis (backload or structure the deal like someone mentioned where he'd get a certain amount in bonuses but with only $10mil counting against the cap)

Sign 2 of Browner, Pollard, Woodyard, Blount.

Sign Edelman, Nicks or S. Smith if released.

At DE sign Allen or Ware or Tuck.

Sign Dietrich-Smith at C (don't know many other names out in FA)

Trade 2016 1st rounder, 2015 6th rounder for another 1st this year. Draft DT and TE in the 1st.

Sit it out!

Seriously, why bother anymore?

if they can trade for/sign Revis and I am not sure they will.

Brandon Browner, on a one year deal,
Asante Samuel,
Jabari Greer,
Cortland Finnegan,
Rashean Mathis,
Eric Wright,

DE
Justin Tuck,
Julius Peppers,
Shaun Phillips,
Jason Babin,
Will Smith,
LaMarr Woodley,

DT if wilfork is not back
Kevin Williams,
Terrence Cody,
Aubrayo Franklin,
Henry Melton,
B.J. Raji,
Randy Starks,

WR
James Jones,
Hakeem Nicks,
Emmanuel Sanders,
Jacoby Jones,
Santonio Holmes,
Miles Austin,
Lance Moore,
Jerricho Cotchery,

OL
Brian De La Puente,
Jonathan Goodwin,
David Baas,
Travelle Wharton,
Harvey Dahl,

this is a list of IMO patriot type players vets that they could get a year or two out of at a good price, a few troubled players like Talib that could play well on a one year deal and a few mid level guys

There are still a lot of quality guys available that could have an impact on this team as well as a very strong draft.

Restructure or release Wilfork
Cut Sopoaga
Cut Connolly
Extend McCourty
Extend Gostkowski

- Push hard for Revis. I would offer something like 4 years $50mil max. ($25mil guaranteed, $16mil signing bonus, 1st year cap hit $6mil) (backup plan sign DRC or Antonio Cromartie)
- Re-sign WR Edelman- 4yrs $22mil ($8mil guaranteed, 1st year cap hit $3.5mil)
- Re-sign RB Blount- 3yrs $5mil (1st year cap hit $1mil)
- Sign FA DE Julius Peppers- 2yrs $13mil (1st year cap hit $6mil)*
- Sign FA LBer Wesley Woodyard- ?
- Sign C/G- Ted Larsen- 2 years $2.5mil (1st year cap hit $1mil)
- Sign FA DT Kevin Williams (if Wilfork released)

*I would love to add Ware but I think he will cost a lot more. I prefer Peppers over Jared Allen because I think he could be a bit cheaper and wouldn't affect calculations for compensation picks because he was cut.

In the draft I would target DT in round 1 (Louis Nix or Ra'Shede Hageman) and TE in round 2 (ASJ or Troy Niklas)

Unleash the ponies....

It will be fun having Brady break in a new crop of receivers....get 'em all primed for when their rookie contracts wind down. And the back end draft DBs coming this year....hope they gel when Dennard gets home from detention. :(

Starks, mack, edelman, scott chandler and maybe mevis.

Sit on our hands while most of our free agents seek better paying jobs.
Then, sign a few veterans at minimum salary.

I wonder what the market for DRC would be like. Gotta be less than Talib. Not as good, but not a massive step down. As much as Revis locking down a side is a wet dream I don't see it happening.

With less than a day of free agency gone, the patriot plans for the offseason are no different than they were yesterday. The only new information is that someone was indeed willing to significantly overpay for Talib (as expected).

With Talib signing with the broncos and most of the "marquee" free agents off the market, what do you think the pats next move/plan for the rest of the offseason is?
