Everything I've heard is that Revis would love to be a Patriot, above any other option. Still ample time for that to happen

Above any other option...who knows

Revis will have some leverage now, which isn't good for us

They could just trade for him and assume his contract. Not likely but it could happen.

My thoughts exactly. I think if we sign Revis it happens in the next few hours or not at all.

Only Revis is worth the money we refused to pay Talib. That still may be too much, in BBIT. :) Still, it would be nice.

And now with CB Aqib Talib a Bronco, Patriots figure to make a real push for Darrelle Revis.

Patriots in a strong position to land Revis now, especially after Talib's deal. Revis wants to be there. Will only take a 5th round pick

Going hard it seems

One problem. The Pats don't have a fifth :lol2:

This. And LaConfora's logic is ******ed. If all Tampa Bay wants is a 5th, I think a lot of teams would be willing to hand that over already. Tampa Bay doesn't give a **** where he goes as long as they get his contract off their books. I thnk the Revis situation is way more complicated than everyone is making it out to be.

Cut fat Vince and make this happen.

Teams have to be willing to take on the contract and they aren't going to do that if Revis doesn't want to be there.

Players get cut all the time after the team couldn't find trade partners. Taking on the contract is the main reason. The Bears couldn't get a conditional 2020 7th round pick for Julius Peppers?

It’s now Revis or bust.

Aqib Talib is a Bronco for an absurd amount of money – six years, $57 million with $26 million guaranteed – and the Patriots now must turn their attention to the best corner remaining on the market.

Darrelle Revis.

The question now becomes whether the Patriots were already in the process of trying to acquire Revis throughout the past few days or if Talib’s flight will force them now to scramble.

Revis is going to be released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by 4 p.m. Wednesday if another team doesn’t deal for him. That will put him on the open market and allow the Patriots to cut the deal they want with him.

With Talib gone, Patriots must turn sights to Revis | Comcast SportsNet - CSNNE.com

Also....jets fans have no sense of how a salary cap works

Revis will be cut by 4pm et today ($h*t need to get to bed !?!?!)

he will not accept a penny less than the $16 mil per year contract he's on ... No team will pay him that ... Forcing the Bucs to cut him before the 4th rounder compensation to the Jets turns into a 3rd rounder.

At that point whatever team offers him the most money is where he will go ... End of story.

John Clayton was just on Sportscenter and in his Most improved team segment, he cited the Bucs and casually threw in that Darrelle Revis is making a visit to New England and if a trade can't get done there, he'll be cut.

Exact words:
"...Alterraun Verner who is able to come in as a CB and replace Darrelle Revis, who by the way is making a visit to New England and if he doesn't get a trade there, he's going to be cut."

Take it FWIW. I'm not sold it's true since Clayton has become pretty spotty and you'd think Schefter would be all over something like that, but he definitely said it and it's interesting if nothing else.
