Please BB re-sign mini-tron

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

I don't know if I am going to listen to a rumor from a Washington area reporter about the Pats. I will believe the Talib rumor when local guys say that he is close to signing.

The whole Revis release mucks up things. Unfortunately, he won't be released until tomorrow and they might have to make a decision about Talib before that. Well, unless Jason Licht does his friend Belichick a solid and allows him to negotiate with Revis before he is released.

I'm sure Jason would let BB talk to Revis with a draft pick in mind. Otherwise, Licht gets nothing when Revis is cut.

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

31+24=Super Bowl :p

There's room to do it, especially if they get creative with the contracts. Belichick & Kraft are getting up there in years now and Brady doesn't have too long left in the league so time to go for it, get some more rings for the 3 of them.

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

I hope the numbers are reasonable.

Sounds like the Pats haven't offered Talib a contract offer yet:

Those close to Aqib Talib are surprised. Why? He has no standing offers just yet. No standing offers yet for Talib | Comcast SportsNet - CSNNE.com #PatriotsTalk @MikeGiardi

The Pats are probably gonna see if they can make a run at Revis before making an offer. If Talib's market is so slow, maybe they can get him for $5-6 million and have a Talib/Revis tandem.

I knew that rumor about a deal being close was BS.
Until the Pats announce it, I will not believe it.

Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet
The #Patriots and WR Julian Edelman couldn’t finalize negotiations and reach a deal. He’ll hit the market, per source. (Come on, Twitter!)

Edelman hasn't ruled out a return to the Patriots. But again, the market will determine how feasible that is. Sides plan to talk more.

Julian Edelman will indeed the free agent market. The Patriots' offer fell short of his expectations, so the market will now dictate things.

I want everyone to know that the rumor I am an idle roomer is BOGUS...not true...I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night in fact...ok..the dumpster had Holiday Inn painted on it..but it was out in the back of the pool area...

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

No, it wouldn't. Many will complain about Smith's size, etc, but I think that he's obviously proven that he's a guy who will battle, can be depended upon, and offers a more physical presence than his stature suggests. On top of that, he is experienced.

I think we could do a lot worse than Steve Smith on a one year deal. It wouldn't solve everything of course, but it may be a nice start.

As long as it's not Steve Smith at $7 mil.

I also think getting Steve Smith might hurt your chances of resigning Talib.

As others have pointed out. I wouldn't mind Smith.

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

I can pass on Edelman, Talib, Revis etc., if the Patriots could land not 1, but 2 (assume one will be injured over 4 mos.) impact pass rushers. Against top competition, the Patriot's pressure on opposing QB's is pathetic (Shooting fish in a barrel). Two prime additions at this position is critical.

Re: Latest Rumors: Patriots Close to Signing Talib and are Getting Aggressive With Ju

Won't be surprised if they let Edelman get away either. I can see him going to the Browns.

I'm sure Brady is happy about restructuring his deal last year, only to have the teams best players leave and the Pats bring in absolutely nobody worth naming.

If I'm Brady I call Revis and tell him to come here. Or they both go to the Browns with Brady demanding a trade there.

You're right. If I were Brady, Cleveland would be my destination, for sure. Holy $###...

Do you even pay attention to anything outside of the Patriots?

You must be stupid not to see how that Browns team would be 1 elite QB away from being a top 3 team in the AFC if they landed Revis. Him and Haden, Whitner, Dansby on defense. Gordon and Cameron on offense.

Nice theory. Two problems: 1) they're the Browns, 2) it's Cleveland.

To be fair, I might be tempted to trade all of the current Patriots for all of the current Browns, plus draft choices, if I could keep Brady.

Te cupboard in New England is pretty bare at this point. Outside of Mayo, Gronkowski, McCourty and Chandler Jones, New England has practically no difference makers. Solder and Vollmer are almost considered difference makers but one is young and mistake prone while the other has been riddled with injuries. They have several solid players beyond that though, and top dogs like Mankins on the downside, but most NFL fans would rather have the Browns players and picks at this point, if you exclude Brady.

Brady is what makes this franchise tick. They are 4-12 with Cleveland's QBs.

New England's 4 to 6 players can't top Josh Gordon, Alex Mack, Karlos Dansby, Joe Thomas, Jordan Cameron, Phil Taylor, Joe Haden, and like Solder, the Browns are still waiting to see what Jabaal Sheard and Barkevious Mingo will grow into. Then there's all the draft picks in a heavy draft. This doesn't mean they'll ever be good, but a top QB would make them good almost instantly.
