For the money they got, either Lamarr Houston or Art Jones would have been a great fit here.

Schefter and Wilson are firing these signings at us. Good work by them.

Re: McCluster

$4.5m guaranteed on a 3 years deal worth up to $12m

Chicago Bears sign Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Lamarr Houston to $35 million deal over five years, according to source

Somewhere, Mayoclinic is softly weeping.

I never really expected the Pats to sign Houston, and expected him to go to Chicago after they lost out on Michael Bennett, but the price was not unreasonable given the usual FA inflation. Compared to $8.5M AAV for Rodger Saffold, it's a huge bargain.

Colts adding some good pieces on defense. They're looking to take that next step from solid playoff team to legitimate AFC contender.

They've got the money to make some real strides. They still need a WR.

Oakland gave Rodger Saffold more money than Jared Veldheer got from Arizona.

the browns continued to add people on defense. dansby and hitner

I hear you. It sucks to lose binkies when the prices are in what you consider 'fair' range.

Oakland's probably going to have to make a lot of overpayments in order to bring in talent. There's no other reason to go there, right now.

Shocked that Oakland let him and Lamarr Houston go, given their $60 million in cap. Maybe the two simply wanted out of there.

This is great stuff so far but is there any way for the mods to keep this thread to news of signings only and delete all other comments (like this one)?
You can always open another thread for discussion of FA signings. This thread will turn into 40 pages in about an hour.

Perhaps the owner is trying to spend money as quickly as possible before the criminal justice system has him fitted for a horizontally striped suit with an eight digit number across his chest.

Bethea's going to the 49ers

Zane Beadles to JAX.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 54s
Jaguars and free-agent G Zane Beadles have agreed to terms on a 5-year, $30 million deal with $13 million guaranteed, per @caplannfl.

Dansby and Whitner = Jackson and TJ Ward. This is like Miami's sideways movements last year, I think, and like MIami, for considerably MORE money.

I understand that. It's just pathetic to let a superior player go and replace him with a lesser player for more money. (Shades of Welker -> Amendola?)

Ravens are finalizing a deal with Eugene Monroe. OL is getting paid well and early.
