The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson’s left foot has stunted his progress in the first full offseason of his NFL career, as the Patriots wide receiver awaits a more definitive diagnosis that will come down within the next two weeks.

To this point, Dobson has been prescribed a heavy dose of rest that eliminated running from his offseason regimen at home in West Virginia, according to a team source. But Dobson returned to the Foxboro area within the past few days and will continue his workouts at Gillette Stadium before the medical staff determines if his foot has healed. He has been able to strengthen his upper body in the meantime.

In the next 10-14 days, Dobson will find out if the rest worked as a recovery method or if he’ll need surgery to repair the foot, according to the source. It’s unclear how long the recovery period would be, but it sounds unlikely he’d be cleared in time for the April 21 launch of the Patriots’ offseason program if he needs the procedure.

Dobson wouldn’t discuss the injury yesterday but remained hopeful for the April 21 target date.

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

Geez, this is not good.

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

Where does it say his foot hasn't healed?

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

Why was he playing with a stress fracture in his foot ?

Did the Patriots "top notch" medical staff think it would heal by stressing it even more ?

Yes, he was. According to Thomas Gill, if the stress fracture didn't heal on it's own by playing on it, the Patriots' medical staff's plan was to hit the area as hard as they could with a sledgehammer.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the Patriots are really half-ass about the health of players they've invested millions in.

They probably just told him to rub some tussin on it.

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

Is this real life? Are we really questioning why he played an AFC Championship game on an injury?

I'd like to know as well... unless I misread, it seems like his scheduled offseason recovery program was to rest it, and they're going to judge how much that helped in the next few weeks at Gillette. It's possible it didn't heal, but that's not what the article seems to state. It seems to state that they're looking at it.

It doesn't. I think we need to require a reading and comprehension test before allowing people to post new topics.

To be serious, I did like hearing this part...

He has been able to strengthen his upper body in the meantime.

That should help him beat press even moreso than he was able to last year, if true.

It doesn't say that. I don't know why the OP bothered to post the article.

Foot injuries take a long time to heal. Sometimes they never heal enough to play football or orher sports. They are giving it time and (as the article says) "In the next 10-14 days, Dobson will find out if the rest worked as a recovery method or if he’ll need surgery to repair the foot".

If it hasn't healed enough to reliably play football, they'll put a screw in it like they did before last season for Julian Edelman so he could catch 100 balls.

The sun is hot, water is wet, foot injuries take a long time to heal naturally (if they do at all).

Either way i thinks this bumps WR up as a priority for them this offseason, which actually may not be a bad thing as the more they provide insurance for it the better imo.

Talk to Kevin McHale about that...

It's the beginning of March, relax

This article actually says nothing. It says the foot is either sufficiently healed, or the foot will require surgery, which is what we knew as soon as we knew he had a foot injury, so it bumps nothing.

In two weeks, there will be some actual information.

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

bad news. I just hope the foot gets healed. we are having some health issues with our offense. if JE doesn't come back and Dobson is still not ready, I am preparing myself for a 1st round WR pick. You heard it here first! :p

Re: Boston Herald: The stress fracture in Aaron Dobson's left foot has still not heal

Dobson is on schedule. If worse comes to worse, he will get an operation and come back and catch 100 balls like Edelman.

This headline is so inaccurate in regards to the article linked, it calls for a mod change, IMO.

People don't know about stress fractures?
