Hernandez attacked fellow inmate

Are you serious. Who in their right mind would think AH would become someone's ****** in a local jail? A pre trial county jail? The only reason the guy that got his butt kicked was running his mouth was because AH is removed from the general population and the dude never anticipated AH having a crack at him.

When he is eventually convicted and transferred to prison, he will run the place (for whatever that's worth). He will also always have the backing of the entire Spanish inmate population (in both jail and state prison).

It's silly to think a 6'4" ex NFL athlete will be anyone's ****** in either the county clubhouse or up state. Obviously if he pisses anyone off, rats or goes outside the inmate code all bets are off. But I see the state inmates using him as an ally (again, for what that's worth) and his next 20 years being one of the top Spanish players in the prison population. Especially if he has any cash left in the bank. Just my opinion.

It was a joke buddy..

Kindof sounds like HBO’s Hard Knocks meets Shawshank Redemption – except Aaron ain’t no Andy.

Heck – I’d still pay money to HBO to see that. If the government had any brains they’d just throw him in general and put the Hernandez Cam out as a pay per view once he's convicted. ;)

We’d cover the millions in taxpayer dollars its going to take to try and house this guy, be able to offer some restitution to the victims, and maybe earn some needed revenue.

If the government thought like me there would be no problems. (Stay tuned for Part II of my wisdom – “Just Put a Bigger Parachute on the Plane Itself!” )

The reality TV show idea is awesome. If prison were a reality show and made interesting enough, then it would become one of the most widely watched shows on television. They could use that advertising money and help pay for these otherwise bankrupt institutions. Personally I'm terrified of prison. The only time I've ever been to one is when I had to get fingerprinted for my medical license. And even that gave me the heebie-jeebies. I would watch the hell out of that show simply out of the intrigue of what goes on in there.

There's PC wings in every prison I've ever encountered, Fencer. I doubt Ahern would ever go PC upon conviction. PC is a horrible way to do long time. First off, it's got the same rules as a high security wing. 23 hours lockdown. Limited visits. He's not going to ever entertain anything like that. Right now he HAS to await trail in PC because Hodgson wants it that way.

I expect , as almost everybody does, that he'll be convicted. If the murder counts stick, he's bound for Cedar Junction. He's a Latin King. They have a rather large clique of Kings there and a significant Hispanic population. He'll clique up, use his resources to establish whatever base of influence he can, and live out his gangster lifestyle. The Mass. prison CAN determine him to be a disruptive influence and ship him out of state under the interstate compact agreement.

After this is all over the next thing we'll hear about him is he stabbed somebody up or got hit himself...or else we all be mostly passed on by the time he hits the streets an old man

Not sure he has been confirmed a member of the Latin Kings... if somehow this whole incident was connected to the Kings, then the Feds might step in and charge him with the RICO statute...

If he is a member of the Kings, he will be labeled as such and watched closely for gang linkages...

Prison gangs are incredibly stupid, when I worked in corrections and we got a new gang member, the first thing that would happen is that the new detainee would do was to write to all of his gang affiliates in the jail, complete with gang symbols on the letter. We were able to identify all of the networks, so we could keep an eye on them....

Then they would write home and to their folks on the street, which we would pass along to local police for their own intelligence...

If and when he ever makes it to open population, he will be viewed as a "trophy" which will make him extremely vulnerable...

We had this discussion when Hernandez was arrested and most posters stated that if they had to go to prison would want to be in general population.

But general population scares me.

I've seen Oz... and I don't want to be Oz-raped.

Solitary confinement for me please.

Every time I see that State Farm Insurance commercial with the bald guy I think of him branding the guy with the swastika in the first episode of that series. That was a great show, HBO shows have gone downhill, since the days of OZ and Sopranos.

Does this count as a violation of Hernandez's contract?

Or, does the Patriots' previous action invalidating the contract take precedence?

If the murder charge didn’t do the trick I don’t think the jail house fight in the hallway will get it done.

Seriously? Are you actually defending Hernandez?

First of all, he's 6'2 and not as big as you think. Second, the official report is that neither of them were seriously injured which tells you he doesn't know much about using his fists, and probably just engaged in slap fighting.

I can see you have some romantic notions about how 'big' he'll be in prison, but I doubt that will ever happen once he gets put in with the hardcore lifers who have nothing to lose.

There are at least four prison reality series already going -- "Lockup" on MSNBC, "First Week In" on Discovery, "The First 48" on A&E and "Locked Up Abroad" on Natgeo.

Either that or they broke it up immediately,

In prison there is always gonna be someone bigger, more to lose or gain and tougher than anyone else...

I think it's a positive that he won the fight

This is what America wants, criminals. Theres more prisons than colleges in NYS and CO,s make upwards near 200,000 after overtime, NYS is also offering free college education to inmates. Merica.

Haha dudes going to be making more money in prison than he was outside of prison in a few years.

I'm with you and Joker on this. Even the "best" of those places are nothing any of us want to think about. (Actually I can't speak for federal minimum security - I don't think it's a country club but it's not at the same level as state penitentiaries)

The Correctional Officers who work there get about zero respect from the public, but they're doing a job most of us wouldn't want to do, dealing with things and people most of us don't want to think about.

Giving youth a little more insight into what they're signing up for choosing a path of crime could be a big help - it's taking "scared straight" to another level and while there are privacy issues I think it could be navigated with some limited income going to inmate families, not to mention victim restitution.

Meanwhile on the other side of the coin, I know of homeless drug and alcohol addicts that have figured out the cheapest and best way for them to get through the winter months and attempt their brand of "rehab" is to commit a late fall crime which will ensure they have a warm bunk and 3 square meals a day for a few months, even as bad a place as prison can be.

You've gotta hand it to them for figuring out that there's no or very limited help for them on the outside - but if they commit a crime they'll at least survive the winter.

That's a good portion of our nation's behavioral health system right there - and is what you see when the government isn't smart enough to make cost-effective behavioral health anywhere near the priority it should be.

This thread is awesome.

I only saw one episode of Oz.

I am not defending Hernandez but he is a big dude, 6'2" 250lbs might not sound huge but he is well put together. He can also take a hit, there are very few things in this world that are more violent than the NFL.

The thing that I think you are missing is if Hernandez is convicted he will be considered a hardcore lifer.

- Hernandez killed his friend, who was dating his babies mothers sister on Father's Day and went on with his life as if it never happened.
- Earlier in 2013 he shot his long time friend and driver in the face and left him to die in an industrial park in Florida.
- In 2012 he allegedly shot three people killing two of them on a public street in the biggest city in our state.

Yesterday he either paid a CO off to get in the hallway with the other inmate or he took advantage of an error and attacked the inmate in what was likely his first time being I caged near another inmate since being incarcerated.

The police have questioned just about every person he has walked by in the last decade and none of them have flipped on him, his relatives, and friends have been incarcerated for reasons stemming from accessory, perjury, and refusing to testify.

My point is Hernandez is a hardcore criminal. When he hits general population he will be carrying convictions for some of the most serious offenses in the facility. He does not have an issue with taking someone else's life for the smallest reason and based on the fact that of all murders, guns pulled, drive by shootings and shots in the face that have occurred over the years and never once has he had someone retaliate I would think his affiliations run deep.

I think that is true on the streets. It's not like Hernandez was sipping scotch on his yacht with his Harvard graduate friends when he decided to shoot Lloyd. He hung out with the same people you see inside willingly on the outside.

I don't think prison is someplace people would want to go. That aside I think humans have an amazing ability to adapt to their situation and environment. If you are doing life then basically that is your life, you adapt to it and it becomes your normal.
