2014 Draft Prospect Thread

One guy I find intriguing is Chase Garnham. When he was healthy in 2012, namely against N.C. State, he looked like Daryl Washington.

Bucky Brooks and I share some similar thoughts:

Justin Gilbert #1 CB
Stephen Tuitt #2 DT
ASJ #2 TE

Top 5 2014 NFL Draft prospects by position: Quarterbacks - NFL.com

Tuitt is listed by Brooks as a DE not a DT thus projecting to a 3-4. He not up against any of the other top DTs by being in this category.

I found Shazier ahead of Mack interesting.

Also really liked this.

2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Washington

Big-bodied tight end with strong hands and good ball skills. Can fill a traditional tight end role but is versatile enough to fill a role as an H-back in two-tight-end packages.

3. Jace Amaro, Texas Tech

Productive tight end in the Red Raiders' spread system, but scouts question his speed, quickness and athleticism. Workouts will play a major role in his final evaluation.

Nice write up. If I'm a scout though, I'm very interested in talking to Spurrier, teammates, ball boys, etc. I want to know about Clowney the man more than the football player. There's no doubt about his talent, but what's more important is what is between his ears.

Yup. No doubt the physical talent is there.

I'm not a huge Nolan Nawrocki fan, but I liked this:

Lacks discipline on and off the field and has had to be managed closely since he arrived on campus. Needs to learn what it means to be a pro. Plays in spurts and is too much of a flash player -- does not consistently dominate like he could. Is still immature and finding his way -- too much of a follower.

If Houston drafts him and JJ Watt teaches Clowney "what it means to be a pro", he will be fantastic. In the wrong organization, not so sure.

Mike Mayock calls my #1 favourite Kyle Fuller a first found lock if he runs a sub 4.5 40.

This is about right.

@MatthewFairburn: Mike Mayock said he wouldn't be surprised if Notre Dame DL Stephon Tuitt goes anywhere from pick No. 25 to pick No. 50.

Today’s mock.

• #29-Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, DB
• #33-Ra'Shede Hageman, DT*
• #62-Travis Swanson, OC
• #93-Jordan Tripp, OLB
• #126-Joe Don Duncan, TE
• #182- Larry Webster, DE
• #190-Lavelle Westbrooks, DB
• TBD-Zach Kerr, DT
• TBD-A.C. Leonard, TE
• #229-Chris Boyd, WR

*Acquired from Houston for Mallett and a 2015 conditional draft pick.

I'm actually wondering if Exum would be a candidate to be a safety conversion project for us. I like the size and the reports of physicality, but I am worried about the injury history/medicals.

I think he'd be a great safety opposite McCourty, and that's primarily where I see him, though he could also play outside CB. I believe he played safety for 2 years. That combination of size, physicality and coverage ability is very nice.

Not a full two years. He started a handful of games in 2010 and I believe every game in 2011. Saw a lot of time at FS in 2011 IIRC and was splitting time there and at CB in 2010. I like Exum a potential thumper SS conversion candidate. 6'1" 220+, he would bring the pain and the coverage skills to match. Health is a question mark, though.

Exactly my thinking, and exactly the combination that we need.

I haven't seen Chris Boyd mentioned here yet. He'd be a great late round pick or UDFA.

I prefer him as an outside corner but his ability to play both certainly doesn't harm his potential value to the Patriots.

Certainly an intriguing prospect and could be a "throw it at the wall and see if it sticks" late round investment. Not sure of the terms of his probation off the top of my head but, IIRC, he's never had a problem with the law before this and Vandy allowed him to stay in school. He's 6'4", has a big catch radius, and looked fast from what Vandy games I saw. How is his route running?

I haven't got that far yet, but he did play in an Erhardt-Perkins under Franklin. That's a plus. I think he could be a mix of Thompkins and Da'Rick Rogers from last year.

What did e do at Vanderbilt exactly? Mislead investigators?

Helped cover up an alleged rape.
