Any interest in him if he does get cut by the Cowboys as rumored to happen?

I think he would be a solid #2 if we can't re-sign Edelman and depth if we are able to hang onto JE. He will be cheaper than Maclin Sanders and Nicks too.

Too injury prone.

Hell no.

Not seeing a greater upside here; pass.

He's too injury prone to be worth paying much money to, but if he's available for somewhere around the veteran minimum (which I doubt he will be), then sure, why not? He's good when healthy.

We already have Amendola, no need to add another injury prone player

Yes.

Because he would likely come cheap, has good size and physicality, and has played X,Y,Z.

He only played 11 games last year but played every game the season prior.

As long as it's low risk, Austin can be a mis-match problem. I would love to have him.

Love Smiles Austin. I think he'd be a good fit

He'd start out as a WR3 in NE, and somewhere between #4 and #6 in target priority, even without Edelman.

Amendola/Dobson are the theoretical WR1/WR2
Gronk is the TE1
Vereen is the 3rdRB

Given that, I still like Cotchery as a one-year signing instead. Now, if the team's concerned about Dobson, that would change the equation.

Miles Austin just sneezed.. aaand there goes his hamstring.

He got Kardashianed and that takes years to recover from if ever at all.

Miles Austin is a year removed from a pretty good season last year was definitely a Big drop off but if he's good to go he might be worth a flier. Austin would fit right in with the fragile players on this Team.:gossip2:

OMG please no!!!!!!! :bricks:

He'd get hurt before the AFCCG, he'd be of no use here.

His hamstring is apparently made of string cheese.....Im gonna have to say no

If he comes cheap (and he may with the injury concerns) why not give it a try. As injured as he's been, he has played 3 out of 5 full seasons gaining above or around 1k yards since becoming a regular, that's 3 more than Amendola. Again, only if he comes cheap. With all the needs the team has I'd rather go for the low risk - moderate reward signings for WR/TE than throwing $5M+/year at another unproven WR.

No way, if Dallas lets him go that is over for him, they tend to keep guys longer than they should.

Beside I get the feeling that folks in here are not willing to give Dobson a chance, very few rookies excel att he WR position, give the guy at lest another year, he has all the attributes the team needs.

Signing a has been won't do any good, the retread philosophy has generally not worked the last 10 years or so.

and we yell at talib for being injured in big games...imagine with austin

NOOOO!

I live in Dallas and I'm very familiar with Miles Austin and his career thus far. He is absolutely terrible, trust me we don't want him. If, and a big if, he is healthy he is good. But, he is never healthy. He's been playing injured since his hamstring never seems to heal and he's terrible, he's slow and can't get separation.

I have to agree with Deus. If I need a catch for a key third down, there are not too many better than Cotchery.

Austin has had some productive games but his hamstring injuries are the death knoll to his career. Like his size and physical game and speed but correct me if I am wrong . His drops seem to have increased (resurfaced) as well. The Cowboys fans chimed in on that. Even as far back as 2011, Austin was 8th in the league in dropped passes.

Cheap enough? Why not. Expectations? Low. But then so were Talib and Blount.
