What's everyone's thoughts on him? And Should the Pats go after him? He has stated that he is open to taking a 1 year, prove it deal to show he is back from his knee injury. If that's the case I cant see why he would leave Philly risk learning a new system if he is going to test the FA market for a big deal after the 2014 season. If the Pats take a look at this guy and feel he is recovered from his injury should they offer him a multi year deal to try to get him on the Pats? Prior to his injury he was very consistent, for a team without a great QB. I think he could be the playmaker that Pats offense needs. He should compliment Dobson nicely, again, IF he has recovered from his injury.

I would definitely take a flier on him.

Maclin/Nicks/Britt - they been productive in the nfl. They may bounce-back. I think they are less risky than rookies.

I wouldn't touch Britt with a ten foot pole. The others, you're onto something.

I would love to get either Maclin or Riley Cooper. I think it's highly probable that at least one hits FA, possibly both, and neither should break the bank. Maclin might want a one year "prove it" deal to show that he's healthy and merits a long term deal, but that would be ok. I think either guy would complement to existing group of receivers nicely.

Maclin is my number one FA receiver. If they went after him I would hope it would be in a deal like they did with Donte Stallworth back in 2007 where he makes a decent base year one and then has a long term deal in place after that where if he performs the team makes a decision on a bonus to be paid by early March to activate that contract. That way if he has a monster year you have him under control for a price you can handle and if not you let him walk.

Jeremy Maclin = made of glass we have too many of those on this Team already no thanks.

I expect that Maclin will either return to the Eagles or end up in K.C..

I think there's a better chance of Bruschi coming back than Philly letting Cooper walk to be honest. He's a critical part of the their offense this year and a major reason why Foles had the mind blowing success he had this season.

You're probably exactly right. I'm sure Philly sees what we see and will want to lock him up.

It's quite the remarkable turn around for the guy. The whole preseason n-bomb thing with him on the verge of being cut and people saying "Who is this guy?" to now being in prime position to get a big money deal from someone. Let your play speak for you and all the distractions go away.

Oh, and I can't believe I spelled Tedy's name wrong :bricks:

New England has been proven to be a great landing spot for players who want a season to prove themselves and make some money, Blount, Talib, and Edelman are all coming off of that scenario and all are going to make a llot of money. Belichick should pursue this option seriously. Pretty low cost, low risk high ceiling, great idea.

If the price is right, I would be all for it. I just do not want the Pats to go and spend a lot of money on a high priced wide receiver free agent when we have other needs. I like this option better than Sanders, who is going to command a lot of money.

I don't think you have to worry about that very much, they are much more likely to go the value route at WR and go after a guy like Maclin than they are to pay Decker 7-8 million a year.

Jets hoping to sing both him and sanders per report. Lets see how much $$ they throw at him

They want both of them, huh? Typical Jets, collecting a bunch of numbers twos instead of a number one. They could add Calvin Johnson tomorrow and it would make much of a difference with Geno throwing him the football.

ya or at least 1

he Jets already have targeted impending free agents Jeremy Maclin and Emmanuel Sanders, and they hope to sign one or both, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
2014 free-agent roundup

Maclin makes plenty of sense, as he played in Philadelphia under offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. The 2009 first-round draft pick and the Eagles have expressed mutual interest in a new contract, so it's not certain that he will hit the open market.

Hm. They'll have the money to toss at them. I just don't see how adding Emmanuel Sanders and Jeremy Maclin will be the difference makers for that offense to bring it up to at least average NFL standards. Pretty much every offensive guy they've brought in or drafted since Ryan has been an unmitigated disaster. Fortunately for them he's arguably the best defensive mind in the league, so he's made up for those short falls.

Last years numbers for Sanders is really mediocre in that Offense. With Mike Wallace gone I thought he would post better numbers. Emanuel Sanders is a mediocre WR the Jets can have him. Even though I am reserved about Maclin he is a superior WR to Sanders. Forget what I said about Maclin made of glass I would rather him over Sanders, Maclin is already proven.

If we're going to go the glass route, Nicks will be available and is a better WR than either of those two when he's healthy.
