If you could bring back one former Patriot in their prime...

Tom Brady.

Tempted between Moss and Harrison but I'd pick Rodney. This team misses him that much.

You choose Tom Brady.. and he magically ages two years.

Don't try to get smart with wishes man..

2007 Tom Brady wouldn't play like crap in 3 straight AFC championship games; Tom is the best quarterback this team will ever have had; but he isn't what he used to be, there is simply no denying that.

I don't know if i can even call him 'Elite' anymore. That being said hes still pretty damn good; good enough to win a Superbowl with assuming the rest of the team is good enough along side him.

But if this is what tom looks like at 36, i don't know if i want to see what he looks like at 40.

Mmm... what did the 2007 Brady have that the 2013 Brady didnt?

I'll gladly suffer through "these" years of Tom Brady.

Your sheer snarky succinctness and utterly original the-Emperor-isnt-wearing-any-clothes objectivity has made me seen the light!

You are an idiot.

Ty Law in his prime.

With Law on one side and a healthy Talib on the other, move Dennard to the slot and you could man up and shut down team's top receivers. That would give great flexibility to pass rush scheme with the DL and LBs.

Getting off the field on 3rd down is a beautiful thing. :D

Ty Law or Moss

Can I choose Gronk? All this team needs is a healthy Gronk.

Seeing as the good obvious answers are taken I am going with Corey Dillon. A little greedy by me as RB isn't a big need on this team but his running in 04 was so tough and hard nosed I would love to see it again.

With an honorary mention for Troy Brown as I would take him over Moss everyday and twice on football Sunday.

Imagine Randy Moss in his prime... with all the rule changes made to favor offenses...

:rocker:

I remember hearing Fred Smerlas talk about how much players around the NFL respected Andre Tippett.

Tippett had everything - size, incredible speed, strength, power. He was an intimidator, a leader and a playmaker - one of the best pass rushers of his generation. Offenses having to account for #56 would put Chandler Jones in the Pro Bowl.

For 2014, I would pick Mike Haynes 1st, Raymond Clayborn 2nd, Randy Moss 3rd. Hannah would be too small for today's game, but in his very last game (SB XX), Richard Dent said that he had never been hit as hard by anyone as Hannah hit him.

Anyone voting for Ty Law must've never seen Mike Haynes play. He was the all time stud talent in Pats history. Another name I haven't seen mentioned is Raymond Claiborne. He was also better than Law. I loved Ty but he wasn't in their class.

The problem with voting for a lineman is that size is so important and a guy like Hannah didn't have it compared with today's beasts. But at db, Haynes and Clayborn were both in the 6'1-6'2" range, around 200 lbs, great speed, tremendous coverage and return skills.

To take it slightly off topic because they weren't Patriots, imagine Jerry Rice or Marino in today's NFL? I would venture their already incredible numbers would be dwarfed had they been playing in the era right now.

Really wish they made a documentary on the pre-90s Pats. I know there aren't many highlights so it probably won't be too long :rimshot:

Well thats just not true. The 76 team has some really good players. John Hannah, Leon Gray,
Stanley Morgan, Russ Francis,, Sam Bam Cunningham,Andy Johnson, Don Calhoun, Sam Adams, Pete Brock, Darryl Stingley, Steve Grogan, Randy Vataha.

Mike Haynes, Sugar Bear Hamilton, Richard Bishop, Sam Hunt, Steve Nelson, Tony McGee, George Webster, Julius Adams.

The offense was young and talented, the defense had guys at the end of their careers like McGee, Webster, Bishop but they were good.

Then go to the 85 team. Unbelievable rushing attack. One of my favorite games, crushing Miami in the playoffs. They still had Julius Adams, Pete Brock, Steve Grogan, John Hannah,Stanley Morgan, Steve Nelson, They added Don Blackmon, Rich Camarillo, Ray Clayborn, Tony Collins, Lin Dawson, Tony Franklin, Irving Fryar,, Brian Holloway, Craig James, Roland James, Ronnie Lippett, Fred Marion, Johnny Rembert, Ed Reynolds, Ken sims, Mosi Tatupu, Andre Tippett, Garin Veris, Robert Weathers and Ron Wooten.

Those guys are all good to great. Look them up, search for games.

We could use Julius Adams, Garin Veris, Ray Clayborn, Fred Marion, Steve Nelson, Andre Tippett, Stanley Morgan and many others.

If they had Brady at QB they would have been better than the 07 team. Grogan was good but inconsistent with some games his ball would take off on him.

In no particular order: Haynes, Hannah, Tippett, Harrison, Law, Coates, Traitor Martin, and Moss would all be up for consideration. With Gronk on the team, Moss would be the winner. The Pats would be unstoppable with him and a healthy Gronk.
