Incredible, they own all of there own, plus an extra 2nd, 3rd, and three extra 7ths!

This team is already very good. That could really load up in the draft.

Picks by team:

Great Blue North Draft Report

Cleveland and St. Louis both have multiple 1st rounders, Washington, as usual is screwed.

They loaded up in 2013, with 11 picks:

18. Eric Reid, FS - immediate starter.
40. Tank Carradine, DE- started the season on PUP; 1st round talent, projected starter
55. Vance McDonald, TE - projected depth and possible future starter at TE.
88. Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB, Auburn - sub rusher.
128. Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech - value pick, probable future starter.
131. Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina - 1st round talent, coming off an ACL. Gamble, put possible successor to Frank Gore.
157. Quinton Dial, DE, Alabama - depth at 5-tech.
180. Nick Moody, OLB, Florida St. - coverage LB.
237. BJ Daniels, QB, USF - developmental QB.
246. Carter Bykowski, OT, Iowa St. - developmental tackle.
252. Marcus Cooper, CB, Rutgers - big CB; they cut him, but he turned out pretty good for KC.

Plus they added some serious talent via UDFAs such as DT Lawrence Okoye and OT Luke Marquardt.

It's a good example of how to keep upgrading a roster, and why I don't buy the argument that the Pats don't have space for 12+ draftees.

Lattimore is a complete stud RB, he will be fantastic for them next year.

It's a great example of drafting a year ahead. Carradine and Lattimore weren't drafted for 2013, but to be future starters. "Need" isn't always immediate.

Both their 2nds are before ours too oh well.

You have to wonder with all those picks if somebody like Sammy Watkins made it out of the top 10 if they would package and 1+2 to go get him.Their offense without Crabtree really suffered. Now imagine Crabtree, Watkins and Davis, scary.

Its funny how people always want to blast Bill for trading down. Yet SF and SEA, the current (and rightful) darlings of the league, have built their teams by trading down and drafting as much in the middle and late rounds as possible.

It's always been a stupid argument. The Patriots had sub par drafts because they selected the wrong players. The funny thing is nobody talks about trading up for Chad Jackson or Ron Brace.\Darius Butler. I can't remember if the traded up pick was used for one or the other but they picked back to back and they both sucked so it doesn't matter.

Smith/Kaepernick cost the 49ers a potential dynasty. Once his cap hit goes from 1 million to 15+, say goodbye to the 49ers run.

Their team will continue to be the most loaded roster in the NFL (they have a better set of weapons and OL than the Seahawks), but their deficiency at QB will continue to do them in.

If Carradine blossoms then they're going to have an absolutely lethal pass rush.

I think with their surrounding talent Kaepernick could "pull a Flacco," but otherwise I largely agree with your point here. I'm not a fan and I think he'll always be the albatross on that team.

Do we know he'll be able to play to his previous best?

This is a big question. I've spoken with some 49ers fan who believe that he won't even be a game day active, much less a stud RB next year. Gore, Hunter, James will still be their top 3, and since Lattimore(likely) has no ST value, he won't be active unless there's an injury.

Nope. I certainly didn't mind to imply that at all. It's a 4th round gamble, but one that a top 4 team with loaded up with draft picks can afford to take. If it fails, not much is loss. If he comes back, then the rich just get richer.

This is not a good draft year (it's pretty ugly actually) so it's probably good they have all those picks. Maybe they'll hit on a couple of sleepers.

??????

This is the strongest and deepest draft in years.

If you looking for a player because you need them at that moment then you're late.

Yet so many people on this board, and so many GMs for that matter, are driven by just that.

I truly believe in the military approach articulated by OTG:

Off The Grid said:
"OVER Loading at ANY position can create a Fatal Advantage. THAT is what interests ME. Attacking With Concentrated Force. THAT is what WINS. In the words ~ more or less ~ of General Patton: 'I'm fighting a WAR, here. Let the B*****ES worry about their FLANKS.' "

I believe it makes sense to strengthen a position of strength to create an "overload" mismatch - the approach the Giants took of drafting defensive linemen even when they had one of the strongest groups in the NFL. Seattle's done it with big, physical DBs, taking one after another. Build dominance and keep the other teams struggling to adapt, rather than playing catchup trying to plug holes.

There problem with Seattle is that they will need to pay everyone eventually... Seattle in particular will be a lot less talented when they have to pay Sherman, Wilson, Chancellor etc.

Agreed, though I also believe that just like a good QB takes what the defense gives you, a good GM takes what the market gives you. If there's no good player at _______ position then you don't waste a pick by reaching for a mediocre player because they're at that position, I think Tavon Wilson is a great example of that.

Me thinks we're saying the same thing different ways:rocker:
