Decker, McDaniels & Patriots interest

I figured it out, guys! Decker was just pulling a Clowney. He ensured that he's healthy, so he can really cash in on that big payday with the Raiders or Jets!

Well, maybe we sign Wuss back after he gets cut in a couple of weeks.

Why do so many seem to think that Welker's going to be cut? I find that idea practically absurd.

They just had a record setting offense that fell one game short of winning the Lombardi, and have a very small window for Manning's remaining years available.

Why wouldn't they attempt to pick up where they left off? They seem to be much more prone to going "all in" over the next couple of years than many teams, and I think they'll be doing everything they can to try and keep the bulk of that offense intact.

If anyone may be going, it probably would be Decker. The reports from today say that they told him to come back with the best offer in FA, then they'll decide if they can match it. He's the one who's probably going to be overpaid by someone, and also the player who's "up" immediately, as it pertains to FA.

Scanning the Broncos boards post SB the fans want to let Decker go.

I don't blame them, especially considering what he'll likely command in FA.

He'd be a great fit for anyone at 4-5m AAV, but with what he's likely to get offers for (some here are even talking 9 million dollars per year!), he's the best one to go in my opinion. It's also a bit difficult to try and fully assess how he'll do with another QB.

I think someone signs Decker for about 7m per year myself, although not too many would agree.

They're in a cap position similar to the Patriots', except that they have less dead money.

Oh, and here are their free agents for 2014:
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Knowshon Moreno
Robert Ayers
Wesley Woodyard
Mike Adams
Stewart Bradley
Quentin Jammer
Zane Beadles
Shaun Phillips
Paris Lenon
Dan Koppen
Andre Caldwell
Winston Justice
Michael Huff
Eric Decker
Steve Vallos

Cutting Bailey frees up $10 million without any dead money.
Clady's got plenty of room in his deal for a restructure.
DRC signing a reasonable extension could free up millions.
Cutting Chris Kuper frees up more than $4 million.

There are plenty more like that. Denver's got the room to maneuver, if they choose to.

As far as the WR position goes I think decker has unfortunately priced himself out of NE - Payton manning made him look really really good this year. Great player that manning made look even better..

I see the pats locking up Edelman - signing a FA TE (chandler?), converting mark Harrison into a TE, and taking a flyer on some veteran guys..

Denario Alexander / Robert Meachum type guys...talented but "b list".

I'd love to say they will trade for Larry fitz , sign decker and put Edelman in slot but cap room seems to be an issue.

Another possibility is Emmanuel sanders - remember the pats were willing give up for him when they attempted to sign him as a RFA.

Keep in mind we still have Boyce and Dobson are both difference makers -like it or not.

Let's see how the market goes this FA, I'm not discarding yet.

Can't blame Broncos receivers for that embarrassing loss, broncos got totally outplayed and manning did not put his receivers in condition to do nothing.

But that certainly will low his price comparing to what would be had him catch a couple TD's yesterday.

We still need a big physical presence like him on the end zone. If it's Decker or not, that should be addressed urgently.

As Deus said, they will save a ton just by releasing/restructuring 36 year old Bailey. I'm guessing the Broncos will retain DRC, Decker, Beadles, Phillips while letting Moreno and Woodyard go.

They will still be a strong team, but Manning/Welker will be one year older. If Manning's arm strength deteriorates any further, then the Broncos will have some problems.

I don't think the Pats will pursue him because he is probably going to be overpaid, but I don't know if the Broncos will get him either. They have 16 free agents with some significant defensive guys (DRC, Shaun Phillips, Robert Ayers, Wesley Woodyard). They also have Moreno and several offensive linemen who are free agents. They may not be able to afford Decker.

I do expect them to release Welker if he does not retire. So the $6 million savings may be enough to pay for Decker. But Decker is likely to get #1 or elite #2 WR money somewhere and the Broncos are going to have to give Demariyus Thomas elite WR money soon.

From your mouth to god's ears!!! That would be THE BEST!!!

So Welker will end up playing for the Jests? I'm starting to salivate thinking in BB's planning his vendetta

Payback time. PayATon stole one of Brady's main weapons(Welker), now its time to return the favor. Cut Wilfork, sign Decker.

Have you seen the Pats run defense?

Waste of money. Decker is nothing special.

Exactly, another McDaniels lackey. Decker did little to nothing in the Super Bowl.

NE likely has 1 slot for a WR and I dont want him. I see Edelman, Almendola, Boyce, Dobson and Thompkins. Plus, the Pats could draft a TE or 2 that can catch the ball and let Hooman and Mulligan go.

Decker is soft.

The last thing we need is an expensive receiver who comes up small in big games.

I changed my mind about Decker; no interest, honestly his hot wife swayed me before but the potential for the biggest game of the season next year resulting Decker and Amendola combining for 1 catch for 6 yards just doesn’t have me jumping for joy. At least Amendola had an injury to blame his no show performance on.

As I said, Decker comes up small in big games. But then again, so did the entire Broncos team yesterday.

Decker. HA. Comes up small in big situations

Decker is still better than anything we have he is also pretty durable what's not to like? Lets not get ahead of ourselves here we have a pretty weak receiving core.:snob:
