nice imagery in that post, Jacks...in the future may I suggest you work in cow pie eating winners, 4-H Club "Heifer of the week" starlets and the shortest book in the world..."Intelligent Colts Fans I Have Known".
"...I have knowed...fixed it for ya...

Perhaps in your effort as an apologist for the weasel, your have forgotten that the only person speaking for the Pats is Bill Bellichick and he has said plenty which you apparently find offensive. I don't think he tolerates cheap shots from his players even verbal ones without punishment. and we the real pats fans respect that. So why don't you and the rest of the weasel ball washers go root for the Broncos and STFU on this site.

Weasel ball washers huh? Them's some pretty strong words Flaccix. But hey, don't get mad just because there are actually Patriot fans who are objective and you couldn't see past your Welker hatred even if you tried.

Really, there's no need to give yourself a coronary my friend. Just about every one agrees that BB is wrong on this one.

I'll just note that, more than any other poster on this site, you have consistently been the most outspoken against Welker--even when he was on the team (and it's not even close). So go find someone else to spew your hatred and bile on. I'll take Talib's silence to mean he doesn't have a problem with a good tough football play like that--even if it got him injured.

I don't believe that he was necessarily trying to get him so hurt that he was too injured to come back in the game, although my guess is that word has gotten out about Talib's tendency to...miss some time, here and there, so if they were going to lay the wood on anyone, Talib would seem to be the perfect choice.

Personally, I wish that Belichick hadn't said anything, but it's quite possible that he shows humanistic traits the same as any of us, and was rather disgusted when he initially viewed it on tape. It may have been a bit of an overreaction, but I can certainly appreciate why he'd have thought that Welker was being an ass on that play, just the same.

Either way, we don't need to be taking crap from Colts fans. They'd have been pissed and disappointed just the same.

Obviously, we don't agree on who we believe is right on this issue. I believe BB when he says its a dirty play and you believe the anti Patriot media. Similarily, I say Welker is a choking receiver who cost the team a superbowl and you think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Keep on apologizing for the weasel, it just is a reflection of where your loyalties lie. Unlike you I root for my coach and team and not a dirty player whom you love. What I find most amusing about your posts, is that you state that because Talib hasn't said anything about it, he thinks its OK. Do you have any idea how things work on the Pats or are you as clueless as the mediots. BB speaks for the team period!! We all know his position. When the weasel gets cut after the season, you can root for whatever team he plays for then. Somehow I don't think it will be the Pats.LOL

Looking at this picture it was a penalty for sure because the ball didn't arrive yet. But it wasn't a dirty play, in fact it was a great play. You want your WR making these blocks. Welker just timed it early. Looking at this i don't think it's dirty just a good football play. Great pic

A pick is a penalty. That's like saying that was a great roughing the passer after a linebacker gets away with a late hit.

Should there be a rule to protect defenseless defensive backs like defenseless receivers?

Provided there was I think there should have been a penalty if a rule like that was in place but there isn't.

Picks are a part of a game, between Denver and New England they run them to perfection but there's a difference on how it's accomplished just like blocking and tackling which have rules punish if they were performed illegally to help prevent injuries.

Just my two cents...

Whenever I see this thread title I picture BB literally ripping Welker in half, like a newspaper.

I guess we'll have no problem finding film with WW doing full body blocks on DBs

Welker played/plays hard for the Dolphins, Patriots and Broncos. I can't think of any plays where he just went through the motions, even if he was just a decoy or if he the pass didn't go his way. While I can't think of any specific examples, I do remember him delivering some good blocks during his time here.

I can't think of any that match the Talib play, though. When you consider how anything involving the Patriots that's remotely controversial gets blown up, you'd think that sort of situation would have stood out. Even if there was no injury to a defensive back, a Patriots receiver getting away with OPI on a pretty substantial collision and no one remembers it? Either we all blocked it out because we're homers and any troll that brought it up was banned or it didn't happen.

that's not the point. The point is it WAS a penalty. OK, refs miss calls all the time. I'm OK with that...I don't like it but that's life in the NFL. What I despise is that ridiculous hand puppet Goodell uses to explain why that WASN'T a penalty by asserting the hit was simultaneous, when photographic frame by frame evidence as well as national network video evidence shows this explanation to be total BS.

THAT is the real point. Credibility....non existent.

That's my take as well. Once the photographic evidence was there the pundits and ex-refs destroyed their credibility by invoking the lame "almost" simultaneous mantra. Just say it was a penalty but because of the fast pace, humans missed it. I'm OK with that. It happens. The faux infallibility the NFL attempts to project is insulting to the informed audience.

From today's Heath Evans interview on Mutt & Merloni (It Is What It Is » Heath Evans on M&M: ?Never going to convince? Marshall Faulk that Patriots didn?t cheat in Super Bowl XXXVI)

On Wes Welker‘s hit on Aqib Talib in the AFC championship game:
“The ball was in the air. I know Wes. I’ve seen Wes avoid those guys a thousand times in practice, in the games. I’ve seen him kind of stutter his feet, get those guys to stutter [their] feet, accomplish his goal on that pick/rub route and then avoid contact. Well, I’m not saying anybody told Wes to go do that, but I firmly believe that was just a warning shot. Wes is one of the toughest players I’ve ever been around in my life. And I just firmly believe Wes is thinking, ‘We take Aqib out, or we just get him to slow down, we win this game.’

“I said that going in, we asked the question that week before the AFC championship game: Anybody more important than these two quarterbacks? I’m like, ‘Yeah, Aqib Talib.’ You lose him, your whole defensive plan goes out the window. And we saw it. You go back to Baltimore last year. He goes down, Joe Flacco looks like Joe Montana. But before, there was nothing there.”

On if Welker, coming off two concussions, would put himself in harm’s way:
“We could always find bigger, stronger guys, but if I was going to sit down here and try to find tougher guys that I’ve played with in my 10 years, I’d be hard-pressed to find tougher guys [than Welker]. I know Wes, he’s smart, he’ll do anything for a team. He doesn’t have to be coached on it. He’ll find it himself.

“You hate to judge intent. Like I said, I’ve seen that same play a thousand times. And I’ve seen Wes avoid greater athletes and bigger defenders. And yet, you see that right shoulder go down. You see him maybe try to slip or maybe try to put that shoulder right into it. Did he know he was going to hurt him? No. Was he trying to hurt him? No. But do I think Wes was trying to give Aqib a warning shot, that, ‘Hey, this is coming your way all day long’? Abso-friggin-lutley.”

We can only hope that the Pats don't make the same mistake with Edelman that they did with Welker. But then again, if that happens a lot of you will be able to relish ripping Edelman when he comes back to haunt us:

Edelman on Welker hit: I'd make the same play if asked | Comcast SportsNet - CSNNE.com

"I haven't really seen the play," Edelman said of Welker's hit that knocked Talib out of the Pats' AFC Championship Game loss to the Broncos and drew the ire of coach Bill Belichick. "I gotta see it. That a man-beater. The guy going over the top is picking the guy going underneath. Would I go out and do the same thing if I was told to do it? Probably."

Guess Edelman's just a no good cheating POS as well.

I'll never understand pats fans who hate on Wes, Edelman's another stud but if he drops an Over-Thrown pass by Brady most of you will Rip him a new one too!!!

It's a racist hatred of shorter people

Another Weasel apologist coming out of the woodwork. The fact is that it is painfully obvious that he choked on more than one occasion or have you forgotten the dropped pass in the AFC championship game against the Ravens. He is the opposite of the clutch player.Troy Brown. As for Edelman if it is a legal block, it is fine, if it is a cheap shot like the weasel, then he deserves the chastisement.
