NFL Players: Brady Most Clutch

Ah, the players know what they're talking about. Brady is still the best. The dude threw for 4,000 yards this year with a converted QB turned WR slot receiver as his primary wideout, three rookies, Gronk missing half the season, no Welker, Hernandez ventilating people, and an oft injured FA acquisition who got injured again this season. Add to that his last minute drives this season for wins. Brady is definitely the guy I want with the football in his hands with two minutes left.

While we're on the topic: Peyton still owes the viewing audience a backbreaking playoff pick-6. Or the "Manning Special", if you want to call it that.

Inb4 archie cries for a recount.

We all knew this....

This can not possibly be true. Stop making things up.

Even in the game we lost, Brady got us at least in field goal range with very little time off the clock under 2 minutes. That 's pretty clucth to me.

What? no love for Flacco or.....Romo?

Romo is such a tease. He's physically gifted and can run up some serious stats. But he's cursed with a penchant for finding a way to be right in the middle of that perplexingly mindless turnover that loses a big game.

We're I the owner I'd have tried to trade him a couple years ago and would try do do so even now. Solidify the core of the team with my pick(s). I'd hire what I thought was a good QB coach and roll the dice on the draft for a QB; whoever runs the Pats will need to do the same development later this decade.

We didn't need a Survey to tell us what we already know.

Difference between Brady and P.Manning is......

When Brady has a last min or possession drive to come through, opposing players and their fans put their hands together and look up to sky.

When PM has a last min or possession drive to come through, opposing players and fans just wait for him to throw an INT and Pick 6 to end a crucial comeback, then players and their fans put their hands together and clap.

Also of note were the 41 dropped passes, 2nd just 3 behind the Lions but 11 more than the #3 Rams with 30, losing Vollmer and getting sacked 40 times, the most since his rookie year (41 in '01), Vereen missing 8 games (although he dropped 7), and a pair of weather games (Cin., Buf). He did have his once-a-year gagger vs the 'Phins in Oct (116 yds in the air), but you have to give him one, plus we won.

All he did this year is continue to prove he can do more with less than any other QB in the league. 28 other QBs didn't take their team as far. Sorry Rodgers, Brees, Luck, Newton et al....

The winner is:
"I'd rather have Romo on the other team in the 4th, than Brady on mine."

Who? I don't remember seeing anyone saying this, at least not seriously.

Couple threads pre-season, couple more after the 1st few games with lousy QB stats, and just last week "BB's toughest Coaching Call" Brady has lost it talk; we need to move on, if not 2014 season, the one after

Perhaps you wisely used the wonderful "Ignore Thread" feature

Just because a couple clowns sound off doesn't make the rest of the board think that way. Maybe we should do a poll here and see who wants Mallet over Brady.

Now, there's a story Florio will post on PFT for sure...oh, that's right...

Florio would dress up as a Drag queen and run onto the field during the SB before he would post this on his stupid site.

Players by a dominant margin voted TFB as THE guy they want with the ball in the SB with 2 minutes to go.

Tom Brady of New England Patriots voted as QB most players would want in clutch -- ESPN.com survey - ESPN

But here, folks want to move on with untested Mallet. Go figure.

lmao..........................

The interesting thing for me with Brady is that i have been looking for signs of decline the last 2 seasons and I don't see it at all, in fact, like Ditka actually said today on WEEI, I think he's gotten better. His arm is much stronger than it was when he was younger, his ability to readd defenses and understand how to break them down has just gottten better and better and better, and his pocket presence has gotten better over the years because he was never mobile and had to learn how to shift around in small spaces to avoid the rush, because he sure as hell wasn't going to outrun it. As an aging QB Brady has the same advantage Manning does, neither game was ever based on athleticism, is was based upon football intelligence and accuracy, and while the normal expectations for most athletes in their mid 30's is a natural decline in the case of those two QB's the decline is much less and much less detrimental, falling out of a first floor window is a shorter drop with less damage done. Beyond that the way athletes take care of themselves has changed dramatically, and Brady takes exceptional care of himself and has clearly gotten bigger and stronger over the years, and he weathers the hits every season as well as any QB in the game.

Brady is going to decline someday, that's inevitable, but how soon that happens and how quick the decline and departure are remain to be seen. Last season he took a team that had major issues and got it to the AFCCG again, and until i start seeing real signs of decay i am going to see no reason to start thinking about replacing him. For some reason i feel like he should actually have to have mediocre season before i will believe he is heading out the door, it doesn't make sense when he is still clearly elite.
