BB rips Welker

It looks like the weasel's apologists are coming out of the woodwork now. They feel more comfortable blaming the victim of a cheap shot than the cheap shot artist. I guess if they were around when Tatum crippled Stingley, they would have blamed Stingley for not getting up. I don't know why they are are still calling themselves Pats fans. They obviously consider BB a liar and are still in love with the butterfingered dirtbag.

Alluding that Welker is like Tatum?

Perspective...get some.

Considering the fact that Talib has missed about 21-22% every year of his 6 year career and never actually completed a season at the end with his teammates, one may think that you're onto something here.

Some will say that you are being too harsh on Talib, and that this isn't fair.

I believe that you have somewhat of a valid point. This wasn't a shot aimed at the knees, or a clear head shot. It was a very hard shot that shouldn't be understated, but one would think that there would have been a lot of more physical CBs in the league that would have had to be 1/2 dead to sit out ONE conference championship game, let alone two in a row; especially after never sniffing the playoffs in his career before.

I just somehow couldn't imagine a lot of guys taking this hit and missing the rest of the entire game, knowing how important their role was.

I bet he broke his ribs.

A simple pick block that was .5 seconds too early is the same as paralyzing a guy in a preseason game?

You'd better start using decaf.

I honestly don’t see the issue with Belichick saying it was a bad play or dirty play. Whether or not the NFL deems it a dirty play doesn’t really matter in context to Belichick, the fact is Welker played here for 6 years and Belichick never had him do things like that in that manner so the fact he is now doing it in that manner may very well appear to be dirty to Bill.

Second why the F does Belichick have to say nice things about Welker he can rip him in the media if he wants to, Welker ripped Bill in the spring and saying stuff in the media about Bill being overly hard on him etc.

I am glad Belichick said what he said Welker deserved it he did not need to do what he did whether it was dirty in the leagues eyes or not it was excessive and the pick could have been made with the same success without that type of force.

Intent is irrelevant. It's reckless. You're also missing the fact that Welker veered into him. You can easily see Welker dive left.

Look at the play from the wide angle that shows it all, he plants to cut before or at the exact same time as Talib cuts. The idea there is to run straight across the field in front of Talib between he and Demaryius, releasing Demaryius into the open field. Talib gets a great break and is intent on sticking Demaryius as he does so well and Welker is then on a collision course. There is valid question on whether Welker could have or should have done more at that last moment to avoid the collision, but I don't think it's as egregious as it seems.

I think at worst Welker made a bonehead decision to stick with that plan even when he wasn't quick enough to get through, and at best Welker thought he could get through and/or Talib would alter his pursuit and he didn't have time to change when he realized they were about to collide.

Now was it reckless? Of course, I agree, but I think it's reckless play design, not necessarily reckless Welker, although we really can't say without being in his head at the time. This exposes a huge flaw in the safety rules, putting no burden on the WR to avoid contact as long as the ball can be timed to arrive at the time of collision. It's the parallel of a defenseless receiver.

to me, what makes it dirty is that Welker Lowered his helmet and dove into his ribs. he could've easily picked him like Hooman did on the penalty

I hope the Seahawks DB's set a tone early and rock one of those denver WR's

if you are going to allow this play for WR's then you have to make it ok for DB's to rock players going over the middle without a flag.

When you are going to collide with someone your natural instinct is to brace yourself. Assuming he didn't intend the collision, I wouldn't expect him to to do much else, he was going a lot faster than Hooman and the collision happened late.

Don't get me wrong. I am more pissed that Talib is so fragile that a collision with a smaller, lighter receiver can take him out.

What about that Lloyd fella for letting collisions with smaller, lighter bullets take him out?

Too soon?

Physics and anatomy can conspire for some pretty tragic results.

so why did the league rule Welker's play legal and Hooman's was not?

Thanks for understanding my post. For those who lack the ability to comprehend the meaning of my post, allow me to simplify. I said that the previous blogger in his zeal to defend the weasel, started blaming the victim. I said that by using a hyperbole, the blogger would blame Stingley for not getting up after being hurt by Tatum. I did not compare the weasel to Tatum, just the unfounded and unconscionable act of blaming the victim to excuse the act of perpetrator.

so why did the league rule Welker's play legal and Hooman's was not?
What you were expecting a fair shake from Goodell's stooges. Have you seen any road games for the Pats this year. You could expect at least one unbelievable and inexplicable call against the Pats in the final minute and not be disappointed. After the game the league office would come out with some BS response supporting the Ref's that they could hardly say with a straight face.

so why did the league rule Welker's play legal and Hooman's was not?

Well, because, what Welker did was not nearly as lethal as Troy Brown's pick play in the 2007 AFC CG against the Colts. That pick play was lethal!

so why did the league rule Welker's play legal and Hooman's was not?
Hooman made clear (but light) contact before the ball was touched, while Welker's split second pause to curl up into a cannonball delayed him hitting Talib long enough for it to be considered "almost" simultaneous, which is good enough for the NFL to defend.

yeah...once again...ANOTHER coinky dinky.

For seven years now I've been providing actions and instances of bias committed by Jetdell specifically to the Patriots. Every instance is met with the same response."It's just a coincidence, Joker...nothing to see here"....

what is the coinky dinky count up to now...100??...200?

and I did not even get that bothered about the hit, either way, as anyone who reads these threads can easily see....BUT....the decision by the league (GOODELL) is obviously questionable in light of the other calls, contact WAS made before the ball touched the receiver's hands AND Goodell's goonboy sideline ref expert immediately jumped in spinning "legal!!!!!" without ever answering the photographic evidence. ANOTHER COINCIDENCE of unanswered Goodelian assaults on the New England Patriots.

When does the avalanche of coinky dinkys reach the tipping point around here until you SEE WTF Is really going on?

All I know is that when we had guys like Rodney Harrison (one of the so called dirtiest players in the game) we won championships.

Now we're all classy like and don't win ****.

Next year i'd like to see our defenders do a whole lot more diving at peoples knees and using their bodies and helmets like a human torpedo to knock receivers into next season, starting with Dark Helmet when we play Denver.

I know, I'm a horrible person because I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of this being a one way street.

When was the last time a Patriot defender hit someone hard enough to put the fear of God into an offense? Gonna' say Wilfork against the Bills in 2012.

Before that you probably have to go all the way back to Harrison.

again, LOOK at the reason why...Hooman's slight brush with a defender..."EVIL!!! FINE!!! SPYGATE!!!" goes the Goodelian Goon Squad...Welker destroys Talib with an intentional cross body block BEFORE the ball hits the receiver's hands "too close!!!! can't call it that close!!!too close so IT NEVER HAPPENED!!!"...garbage...rotten scum criminal refuse dropped on all Pats fans by this disgusting little Jet fan punk weasel who wormed his way up the NFL ladder with billionaire Hess's backing. It's outrageous.

I put the BIGGEST part of the problem in Bold and Caps.

Joker is absolutely correct. I believe the POS Goodell's reign of terror against the Pats started when Kraft rolled over and let Goodell blow out of proportion the camera incident into a major offense when it was common knowledge that many teams including the Jets were doing the same thing. After destroying the Patriot's reputation,it was easy for him and his stooges in the striped shirts to influence the calls against them while assisting his beloved Jets and other favored teams. Anyone who has watched the Pats road games this year can attest to the inexplicably unusual calls against them and the league BS squad with equally laughable defenses of the calls. Maybe its time for Mr whats good for the NFL to turn over the team to his son who is more interested in w2hats good for the Pats first. Then he can pursue rubbing elbows with celebrities full time.

This is rich, Pats fans whining about players being "dirty". It's all fine and well when your team does it, but when it's done to you its a "conspiracy".

Welker played exactly the same way when he played for the Pats. You guys can dish it out but you sure can't take it.
