OMG. 2 shocking changes in 2 games.

Well, that will stop all the "do we depend on Scar too much" talk.

Seems like things are going to get shaken up, for better or worse.

As much as I respect Scar, you can't deny his O-lines consistently failed in the playoffs these last several years. Hopefully this new guy is at least somewhat good.

It feels like a landmark 24 hours for the Pats with two of the longest serving assistants in club history (and in Scar's case NFL history) moving on.

Change may be good. Scar and Pepper were obviously great coaches, but there's something for shaking things up.

DeGuglielmo has 22 years of experience, so he should be qualified. He was just hired 6 days ago to be the OL coach for the University of Maryland. Obviously this was a better opportunity. Shades of BB in 2000.

Scar's retirement also opens up the "Assistant Head Coach" position. Maybe we could see someone like Jim Schwartz brought in as a defensive consultant/AHC. That would shake up the defense.

Scar can't go out there and block himself. I'm sure Solder wasn't supposed to get beat inside that easily or Mankins wasn't supposed to whiff that bad.

Our OL has been the most consistent unit in the Belichick era.

So, what do we know about our new OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo?

Well, first off like Dante, he's got a really cool name that everyone will pronounce and spell wrong.

He's 45, he's a local (born Cambridge, Mass. and raised in Lexington, Mass.) and went to BC. He's coached at BC, as well as Connecticut, South Carolina, he's also been a part of the Giants coaching staff (for 3 years), the Dolphins (2 years) and most recently the Jets (BOOO HISSS). Fun fact, he was part of the coaching staff for the Jets when this happened.....

In reality he's been a part of some teams at times when they've had hugely consistent and outstanding O-lines, and he joins us from the University of Maryland.

Welcome Dave, and good luck :)

This is the equivalent of losing a big name FA. Dang it....

Congrats to a great career Scar! You will be missed and enjoy retirement.

"Dante DeGuglielmo" would sound better.

So, does this make McDaniels the new Assistant Head Coach? Next Coach Up

So, does this make McDaniels the new Assistant Head Coach?

I don't see how it can't.

Only Ivan Fears has been here longer but McKid is in the most senior position.

Damn, that sucks.

I guess Daboll will be the new OL Coach?

Edit: Perhaps I should read more than the title.

And if Belichick wants to cause major overreaction, he could give it to McDaniels

Denver does. The Giants do (x2). The Ravens do.

The O-line gave up 500 yards to Denver:confused:

The O-line allowed the Giants to march up and down the field in 2011?

Lets be honest, the Patriots recent playoff losses have generally a team wide failure. Denver and Ravens especially, the whole team failed to show up.
