Some have said the Pats are getting old. They are the second youngest Team in the NFL. Maybe more experience is the right call. When Mayo and Vince went down there was a void.

As you Cousins know, I am luke warm on the Draft making an impact as it is a full 3 year cycle to know what you have got. Only a 17% chance of a win is way too small. I am more FA oriented. Think Brady and his age Cousins. That being said I picked Jamie Collins as a possible and it happened. It does not happen often. He also progressed.

But the Drafted and UDFA WR were mediocre at best even when healthy. Why no weapons for Brady at his tender age mystifies me?

I am going to send this one into orbit. I haven't been ridiculed for some time and I miss it.

Blockbuster:
Look, BB is going to trade his first rounders away anyway so let's make this good.

The Texans have hired O'Brien but are in tough CAP shape. Billy O needs to redefine the Team.

Texas Trades Andre Johnson (at 32 he has some years and might be the answer here for at least two more Brady years) and it's 2014 first round Draft choice and TE Owen Daniels (who had a broken leg in 2013 while on his way to a superb season. BUT Daniel counts $4.5 million in CAP space so he is a CAP cut at 31 no question. We restructure here obviously. He should be fine with the leg and a damn good weapon for Brady). Daniels is a throw in but would work wonders here. He averages even with this lost year , 48 receptions per year and a 12.0 average.

Johnson is signed until 2016 and has a meek CAP number in 2014 of $6.5m

N.E. Trades it's first and second round in 2014 and it's first in 2015 plus QB Ryan Mallett and a need at Safety for the Texans our former second rounder Tavon Wilson (say bye to that experiment) , plus one of the two kid WR either Thompkins or Boyce. O'Brien worked with Mallet and they have respect with each other. Yep, BO could go for Manziel, but they need more than one tweak and he nor Bridgewater may pan out. O'Brien knows Mallett and he possess the better arm of the three.

Come on Cousins. You know BB trades out in 2014 and 2015 anyway.

Summary:

Texans swap-Johnson, their 2014 first and a CAP casualty Daniels

NE. swap-2014 first, 2015 first, 2014 second, QB Ryan Mallett, choice of WR in Thompkins or Boyce to fill Johnson spot because we would have to and Mallet has thrown to both, Safety Tavon Wilson to fill a need in Houston.

Remember the CAP is an issue for the Texans. QB issue is filled with a more ready NFL QB in Mallett with already a relationship.

N.E selects Clowney #1

Now we know NYG and Cleveland can use an RB. Dangle Ridley for a second and we get essentially our pick back. Or better yet, swap Ridley to the G Men for S Antrel Rolle who was great in 2013 but 31.

Hit the Draft for a second TE like Amaro

Now lets hit the FA and pick up (TRY IN THIS CASE) C Alex Mack, DE Jared Allen who is relentless and at 32 wants that ring, WR Mackilin on a one year, S Jarius Byrd if Rolle does not work........ and lost in the shuffle a still young Terrance Cody DT only 25 and can learn from Vince. Byrd and Mack are expensive. The others should be reasonable.

Re-Sign Talib, Edelman, Blount

Put Connelly at Center, and Cannon at G. Draft for depth.

Now the move of consideration. With Allen and Clowney (just sayin Cousins). move Nickovich as your new Pats MLB. 91 Tackles and 8 sacks. Can cover where Spikes was weak and has range. 6'2" and 262 lbs a Ted Johnson type MLB. Why not?

O.K. comments? Remember this is for fun.

You're crazy. I love ya, but you're crazy.

Nice post, Toys

I think the first thing we have to do is find our own planet...a planet of magical fantasies come true...then we need a good magician as head coach...like THIS guy...

I like stories.

As an aside though, I will say that the giant, blockbuster deal that includes multiple high leverage assets from both sides is the one thing that BB has yet to do. Because of that, I'm now expecting something like that to happen.

"BB never trades up in the first round!"

BB trades up TWICE for Jones and Hightower.

"BB doesn't draft linebackers in the first round!"

Picks Jerod Mayo.

"BB would never bring in a deep threat diva WR!"

Trades for Randy Moss.

"BB would never give up multiple high picks and players for a big splash deal!"

... 2014?

You can tell that folks like DW are really MLB fans where fantasies like this happen

Sigh, the long off-season of ludicrous threads has begun

I'm changing my handle to Lou Dicrity to beat the rampaging crowd in the door...

Reminds me of a song from days gone by..

Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar
Make it snappy

I was enjoying this crazy ride until you traded away our 2015 first round pick. BB doesn't have the balls to do that for any player unless he is about to retire.

Folks should consider

1) The value required to move HOU from their pick to ours in the 1st.

2) The value of Andre Johnson.

If you do that, you see just how crazy this proposal is. This wouldn't come close to working, even if Johnson weren't included.

That was obviously insane which the OP was going for but I think the trade route makes a lot of sense for this offseason. BB has done it before in 07 trading for Moss and Welker.

Couple reasons to go this route:

1) We are coming off a couple of good drafts and are actually fairly young so flipping a pick or two for a Vet could be a good strategy to get us some players who are ready to contribute more this season.
1B) or for the same reason we could flip a pick this year to next to not overload on youth and to set up future drafts.

2) We are pretty tight as far as the cap is concerned so making a trade for a guy who has a set price(with signing bonuses already paid) rather than shopping at high prices on the free agent market makes sense. Not sure who this guy might be but think Moss or Dillon guys who are near the end and never really had a shot at winning.

3) Mallet - This will be tough to do with no other back up to speak of but he is clearly a chip and being in the last year of his deal a trade certainly should at least be considered.

4) with several players on IR and their back ups proving to be able to step in any number of these guys could be considered tradeable as in theory they were already replaced. Not going to speculate who that could be and is very unlikely considering how good most of these guys are but you never know.

Excellent Post. As I said it is for fun. Everybody still dreams of Larry Fitzgerald, as do I. But the Texans are cashed strapped with CAP and Johnson's CAP number are realistic for us at $6.5 in 2014 (Welkeresque numbers). The QB choices are strange in this Draft. The hard partying Manziel may not be a fit for BO. Mallet and BO seem to like each other and know each other. Johnson is not on the verge of a ring with the Texans.

Maybe the two firsts, a second, plus Mallet (who might be at least Cassel value in trade at a high#2), a WR and a Safety are not worth the 32 year old Johnson and a #1 (and a sure CAP casualty thrown in) ?

Maybe or maybe not. Six players for two? (o.k. Daniels was a CAP throw in and Wilson is mediocre at best but still a high Draft choice and young and they need Safety help)

I think TE Daniel's would fit here and he is cut by the Texans if they do not trade him, or we can trade and redo his contract.

Here is my backup to WR on the cheap. Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon. He has AA problems but only 24 years old and is as talented as any WR. Can BB do a Talib on him and make him strait? The inmates run the asylum in Jacksonville. He is out of Fl. I think we can do a Blount like deal to get him here.

Would you Cousins consider Justin Blackmon at 24 but in a AA program?
