So basically you think we need one more receiver. I don't think anyone would disagree with that, bit Fitzgerald? Seriously? Whenever I see a post like this, I can't help but think that the poster has absolutely no idea how the salary cap works.
As good as a guy like Fitzgerald is, if you offered the Cardinals a chance to tear up his contract with no cap ramifications, they would do it in a heartbeat (same with Megatron, probably). When you pay a receiver that kind of money, you've blown pretty much your entire receivers budget at the outset.
This is why the Lions are stuck trying to play guys like Nate Burleson, Ryan Broyles, and Kris Durham as their WR2. Arizona avoided that by hitting on a draft pick (Michael Floyd), or else they would be in the same position.
Which is what the Pats have to do. They have to nail a WR draft pick. If they do that, they'll have an upper-echelon weapon in the receiving game available at a reasonable cost for most of whatever time Brady has left. Belichick clearly realizes this, which is why he invested so much draft capital at WR last year.
If we want to see a dramatic talent upgrade at WR, it's going to come in the form of improvement from the guys who are already here, a draft pick, or a middle-tier FA. Anyone who hasn't accepted that reality is going to be disappointed.
