I'll be upgrading the board over the offseason in the ongoing effort to improve things here. Obviously I'll announce it when we get closer, but you can expect a pretty cool experience after it's done. From what research and testing I've done I think it's going to be a nice change, and should definitely make things better. Should also run a little more smoothly code-wise which will help in solving the game day glitches.

Out with the old, in with the new. So you'll have that to look forward to. And don't ask me for details...you'll just have to wait and see

Thread title scared the crap out of me. This was shaping up to be the Worst Week Ever. Phew.

The only question that needs to be asked: old posts will be ported over, yes?

Of course :)

Old posts, PM's, everything should transition just fine. I'll test everything before it's done for real, so no worries.

Thank you for all your hard work in having provided this great forum throughout the years.

Hopefully, the transformation isn't one that involves Disqus!

Are you going to change forum software completely? If so I recommend Discourse.

Can't give you details just yet, but you'll see when it's done. Still in the testing phase so I'm not going to release it until it's ready. But let's just say it will be a significant upgrade :)

Oh man the thread title had me reaching for some rope… I look forward to the new board and thank you and the mods for all your hard work and dedication!

Go Pats in 2014!!

Two things, if you don't mind:

1.) Will the expected downtime be measured in hours, days or weeks?

2.) Please tell me you'll either have an enhanced ignore feature built in, or have set it up so that one can be brought in (i.e. greasemonkey script).

Yikes, but my calendar doesn't say April 1st? Ah, then the explanation, carry-on.

1) Probably hours, and I'll probably plan it for a weekend since it's going to require an all-night effort on my part to transition everything when the time comes. So the only people who might really be more affected are people on the west coast. Took me three hours or so to export and re-import every table the first time I did it, so I'm guessing we'll be down for a little bit beyond that when the time comes. So probably at least one night.

2) From what I can see there will be some similarities with those features. I'll definitely make sure there are as many things to make it convenient for everyone to have those types of controls.

Thanks for the quick response.

One of the things I've missed since Ffvb became noncompatible with FF upgrades is a true ignore feature. That one not only put the person on ignore, but it made it so that the person's words never showed up, even when someone else was quoting him, and it meant that threads started by that person never showed up on screen. Those are great features, IMO.

Heck, I've got a Mac that still has one of the FF3._ versions on it, mostly so I can use those Ffvb ignore features on game days.

I wonder if the new board will have adanced features to automatically delete posts that say "We should bring back Randy Moss."

Wanna improve this board? Treat people better. I constantly have completely legit threads move to God knows where with no explanation or anything. Tired of it.

If you need any help regarding setup/config etc do let us(me) know.
Thanks

LOL, if only :)

I'm going to lock this thread for the sake of not taking away from the other discussions, but anyone can certainly feel free to PM me with any additional thoughts, suggestions, etc. Figured I'd at least post something for people to look forward to considering what happened yesterday, so hopefully you all enjoy it when the time does come to make the switch
