I would keep Connolly as a C (where I actually like him) and draft/sign a RG. I was saying the same thing before this season though, and was surprised that this hasn't already happened.

The OL had 3 expensive players and a 4th middle class one as it is. And the personnel they wound up with didn't do all that badly.

But I can easily imagine the Patriots allowing themselves to get outbid for Ryan Wendell now that he's a FA.

Here's a thought experiment though: if Wilfork was available as a FA for $7.5M, coming off his Achilles tear, would you want him? I don't think that I would.

Fortunately, that doesn't need to be decided in March, the way it would for a real FA.

Re: Will Bob Kraft ever pay a big name free agent receiver

Just what we need a WR who can go deep to go with a QB that sucks at throwing the deep ball. We need a beefier O-Line and a more agile younger D-Line that can get to the QB ... same as we need every year since Seymour left.

How was Brady's deep ball when he was throwing to Randy?

Oh yeah, it was pretty damned awesome. The receiver is a very big part of the deep ball equation, I'm not saying that Brady is a great deep ball thrower but having a guy that's skilled at going deep can make up for a lot.

Definitely, that's a good point. For the record, I love Wilfork and really hope he's back for next season and the rest of his career. Just not as his current cap figure.

I can't overlook that our OC and DC suck big time. very predictable and clueless when game is not going our way.

Yep both those guys are the worst....

Seriously Denver played an excellent game in all phases of the game. Their offense scored points, moved the chains and killed the clock, their defense got off the field on third downs, and they have a kicker that makes 55 yard FG look like extra points. They deserved to win.

We showed a lot of fight this year. I'm proud of this team. Barring a tragic injury, we have a great chance to make it to 4 straight AFC championships next year.

I think Collie deserves a roster spot on this team.

Momentum stopping

Welker hit pissed me off
Hooman non penalty pissed me off
Logan Ryan supposed hold penalty pissed me off
Denver everyone blocks downfield if they so wish pissed me off
It seems that officials decide results now more than ever and that pisses me off

But what I cannot really stand is the feigning of injury to slow an opponent down. Last night whenever the Patriots got going a Denver player was down on the pitch.. not once, not twice.. it must have got into double figures the number of times they had a supposed injury after a decent play by the Patriots.

I love NFL, but so hate the win at all costs. For me this is blatant cheating.

Yes Denver was the better team, everyone knew they were on paper before, but no need to rub salt in our wounds last night with getting them over the winning line.

Re: Momentum stopping

The flops were ridiculous.

A severely crippled team, playing with many rookies, street free agents, dinged up players, and career back-ups, lost a championship game to the best team in their conference.

My only question is, what in the world made anyone think this team was going to the Superbowl ?

Man, the day after is worse. I cant fault the team because they were so undermanned but getting beat by manning , allowing most yds in a game since BB was here, missing chances early on to take control by hitting some passes, all these are replaying. going to be a miserable 2 weeks.

Do yourself a favor and just turn the football off. I will come here to post but look at/listen to nothing else. It isn't that bad.

Re: Momentum stopping

The plays that broke my spirit:
1) Brady's high arching pass down field, right side...1st qtr......As the ball sailed through the air, my hopes were high. Brady must be dropping the ball over coverage to a speedster that broke free....or Brady sees a jump ball mismatch that NE will surely win.
But alas....just Brady targeting our special teams gunner.....writing meet wall
2) The Talib assassination. Thought I heard Yogi Berra at that moment ....for that was deja vu all over again
3) The sweet Brady slide to the right....then firing against the grain to a wide open Edelperson....... oh....the quest for elusive perfection. From idea to drawing board to practice field to.....incomplete. The stars so seemingly aligned....for not
4) Two point conversion......game on the line........GOAT (at least before the game) under center.................the play call..............................scat back up the middle.....denied. I'm thinking Josh's thinking was.....Denver can't stuff 100% of runs up the middle, now can they? And as said scat back settled to the ground after an ankle tackle, words echoed in the hollowed chamber of my mind.........words from one of the great thinkers of our time....Maz......the NE coaches believe they are smarter than everyone else.

PS.....TV suggestions now that the end has arrived.
1) True Detectives on HBO.......great cast, bizarre story line.....starting to suck me in
2) Lilyhammer on Netflix.......Sapronos go to Norway. Low budget, partially subtitled, Little Stevie runnin amuk.

I am much more angry with the pushing penalty called in the Jets game and the PI call on Gronk in Carolina that was called and then the refs just decided not to call it. Either of those stupid decisions were not made (and they absolutely should not have been made) and this game would have been in Foxboro.

Regardless we were in the playoffs because of TB but he did not play well. However the team overachieved after losing several all pro players. How many teams would be able to overcome that.

I expected this game to go this way so I am not as disappointed as I am in years past. Its just too bad the media love for Payton Manning will be unbeatable if he wins another ring.

Oh I have already done that. All sports channels are off . Still need some closure :). Only silver lining living in the bay area, the niners also lost so I dont have to hear them gloat even though they couldve had a better chance beating manning than the seahawks.

while those are valid pts, its no gurantee that the rest of season wouldve shaked out like it did if those calls were made correctly. You can also say that the broncos handed a chance to the pats to secure home field but they blew it in miami.

I know. I had to feel dirty for rooting for assy Kaepernick and he has to go make some boneheaded plays to lose it for them. I just couldn't enjoy much of anything about the games yesterday.

praying for a blizzard in two weeks now.not that it will matter. seahwaks are going to get beat.

I have this feeling you are right because outside their stadium they are a completely different and almost mediocre team. The team they are when they play at home though….Denver wouldn't have a chance.

Re: Momentum stopping

The play calling on the 1st 2 drives did it for me.....I hate throwing on 1st down, then running on 2nd.....they simply took themselves out of the one big thing they had going for them going into this game.
