Emmanuel Sanders if the price is right. Like I said always wish we would have pursued him over Amendola.

Fair enough, but there's a problem with that.

Sanders was an RFA, which means that the Steelers would have had up to seven days to match.

So if they tried to go for Sanders first, the Steelers could have putzed around until the Pats lost both Welker and Amendola, and then match the sheet and keep Sanders away, too. [Sanders would also have cost them a third-round pick.]

I don't know where they get them (draft vs. free agency) but the priority has to be:
1. Center
2. Right Guard
3. Tight End
4. Cornerback

After that, best player we can get.

Should have said pursued more aggressively, like offering him similar #'s they offered Amedola. Pittsburgh was up against the cap and would have most likely been unable to match, but we offered him peanuts.

Unless the receiver is free....the Pats don't want him

Very unlikely the Steelers would have matched it given their cap situation. They would have gladly taken the 3rd and passed up paying him what we could have made a very difficult deal to match with a front loaded contract. And of course hindsight is 20/20 but I think missing out on Amendola would have been a blessing in disguise. But I do see your point in missing out on both DA/Welker.

I'd prefer another D-lineman, preferably an interior guy, to a TE

2014 NFL Draft - Offensive Priorities

1. Wide Receiver
2. Center
3. Tight End (Flex)
4. Running Back
5. Right Guard (backup)
6. Left Tackle (backup)
7. Center (backup)

Aside from Brady pretty much every offensive positional group could use an upgrade. Kind of depressing.

Andre Johnson expressed interest in being traded last season. His contract is through 2016 and isn't totally ridiculous (unlike Larry Fitzgerald's).

There is some obvious downside to the move, but it's bold, and it might be workable if we want it.

We should make an offer to Riley Cooper, would love to see him in a patriots uniform.

They need to free up some cap room - Wilfork and Mankins...renegotiate or cut them. Hate to say it, for either, but their hits are huge next year.

Then go free agent to grab some interior linemen, beefy and beastly. Put Vollmer back at tackle, move Cannon to guard, and get a better center.

Get a solid #1 tight end - Chandler, if he could be had on the cheap, might work out. But get one who can catch and block. Hooman is a #3, and you can't depend on Gronk. For the record, I think they gave up on Balllard too soon - he looked a lot better near the end of the year.

I don't know what to think about WR. I doubt they keep Edelman - they can't afford to pay him what Amendola makes or they've got two smurfs for 10 million a year.
Part of me thinks you need to give Dobson, Thompkins and Boyce a real chance to step up, but can you really count on that with Brady's clock ticking? Go get Manny Sanders - AT LEAST. I'd rather have a true go-up-and-get-it guy like Roddy White or Boldin, but there aren't many of those.

Running back...I'd like to see them keep Blount, but they won't pay him a lot after showing today that they really didn't have any faith in him. I'm okay with Ridley, Bolden, and Vereen, since they'll never really commit to it anyway, as we saw, yet again, today.

The defense needs less work, but it's far from complete.

They need another tightend and an upgrade at the center position and right guard. These should be a priority, IMO.

If we traded for Josh Gordon, we could have had a dynamic offense.

Kind of mind-boggling, with the injuries and issues they were having, that they didn't take a shot at Gordon. Still, he's one step away from a year suspension, right?

So what is our salary cap situation?

I like the idea of another stud TE more than a big WR. I hear there's one down in the Bayou who's available.

Don't see any way, any how, the Pats get Jimmy Graham.

Saints have already made it clear he will be franchised if no contract is reached

Hating on Aaron Dobson really shows a lack of perspective.

the pats need to need to go after nicks.
