Gostkowski and Ryan Allen should definitely be on the Impressive list.

Francis isn't very good. Ditto with Arrington. Hard to guys like that disappointing, they just are what they are.

Hernandez deserves a category of his own.

Every single acquisition the past two years by the offensive coordinator has been poor. No more ex-Rams and ex-Broncos players please.

Danny Amendola
Greg Salas
Tim Tebow
Brandon Lloyd
Michael Hoomanawanui
Kenbrell Thompson
Aaron Dobson
Josh Boyce
Zach Sudfeld

surprises
  • julian edelman - I would be fine seeing him get a 3 yr contract.
  • legarrette blount - If the money is right keep him

  • chris jones - deplorable vs the run ... Cut him
  • sealver siliga - fine if we're a 2-gap team lousy in 4-3.
  • logan ryan - Future is bright for Logan
  • marcus cannon - do we ever run to the right side?
  • duron harmon --- ??? Not sure yet
  • steven gregory - decent player but we need a bigger body there.
  • Kenbrell Thompkins - ??? Not sure yet.
  • joe vellano - good for depth that's about it.

I like Dobson and Boyce, I think they’ll make the leap in year 2. Hooman considering we signed off a practice squad and he has been a solid player for us I would actually say he is the most successful on the list and am very happy to have him here. The rest I agree on and would add the following players:

Spencer Larsen
Daniel Fells
Jabar Gaffney
Donte Stallworth

Since when did McDaniels make draft picks? And just because his brother vouched for Maroney doesn't mean he makes draft picks.

And if he did influence the rookie WRs, he should be in charge of picking WRs in the draft all the time. Dobson had the best rookie season of the Brady era. Thompkins was a very good pick up for an undrafted free agent. Sudfeld was a decent flier as an undrafted free agent.

Players I was truly impressed by:

1) Chandler Jones (had a nice 2nd year leap in becoming a better pass rusher and I look foreword to his 3rd year into seeing what he will truly be like as a pro.
2) Julian Edleman (is he a #1 receiver? No, has he earned himself a legitimate contract and a starting spot next year? Yep)
3) Logan Ryan (he struggled a little bit today but as a whole he seemed to keep plays in front of him and he's the best DB we have at playing the football which is encouraging in his first year but also says a lot about what we have in our 2ndary
4) Jamie Collins (for the past month you can really see him actually grasping the game and becoming accustomed to the speed. We have an animal on our hands going into next year, Hightower looked like he was becoming more comfortable as well.)

People I was disappointed by

1) Devin McCourty and Steve Gregory- At some point you have to start being on time to make plays and both of these guys are good for being a step or 2 late on a lot of these big 3rd and long conversions. They are letting QB's play them instead of vice versa and they are pretty much non factors in run support.

2) Our training staff- at some point somebody has to be held accountable for some of these injuries. At first I was leaning towards the players but some of these are just laughable. How does the smallest player on the field injure talib?

How are Amendola and Arrington's contracts structured i.e are they easy to get out of?

Impressive:

Edelman
Hoomanawanui
Collins
Hightower
Allen
Dobson
Cannon
Wendell
Vereen

Disappointing:
Brady
Talib
Solder
Mankins
Amendola
Arrington
McCourty
Gregory
Ryan
Jones
Ninkovich

Edit: that's just for today.

For the season:

Impressive:
Edelman
Collins
Blount
Mankins
Ryan

Disappointing:
Amendola
Ridley
Dobson
Arrington
Chandler Jones
Vereen
... Hernandez

Promising:
Collins
Hightower, now that he's not being miscast in Mayo's role
Vereen
Ryan
Dobson

Chandler Jones is worrying me a bit, hope he hasn't plateaued. I really thought he would become an all pro, but I didn't see a lot of growth this year

Promising:
-Collins
-Ryan
-Chandler Jones
-Dobson
-Boyce (Say what you want but he is David Givens 2.0. I really like him)
-Sealver Siliga

-Jake Bequette. *Just kidding*

Ummm . . . I think I'm going to trust BB et al. on this one.

He was bad against the run, but there's a spot on the roster for interior pass rush specialists. He and Armstead (and Vellano) will be competing for a roster spot IMO

And versus extra head count at DE that slides inside on certain downs.

But with the sub defense playing more than the base in most games, that's an important role.

Gostkowski and Ryan Allen should definitely be on the Impressive list.

Good call I added them both to the impressive list and also added Ryan to the surprising list.
