Shaugnessy: Sorry, the Pats will lose

I still cant figure out why a baseball writer is writing football articles. Since when does the curly haired bf's opinion count? What he is doing is getting clicks. I for one will ignore him and mickey mouse on 98.5. Way more knowledgable people on this board. Come on guys lets not give him a platform.

What's surprising about all of this? I think most of us here never read Shaughnessy ever anymore, because his schtick has been the same old crap for many years now. What would be surprising is if we woke up tomorrow, and actually had our media providers providing us with agenda free objective beat reporting, and columnists who didn't have an axe to grind every time they sat at their keyboard. Just the facts please, and opinions based upon facts, and not how much you hate Belichick, or any other team figure....jmho

Dan getting an idea for his column:

This is not sarcasm or irony or anything like that. Does any other professional sportswriter ANYWHERE treat his own AUDIENCE with such disdain and disrespect? "Sorry, the Pats will lose." Yeah... he's NOT sorry.

This is Dan Shaughnessy being narcissistic, self-absorbed, and deliberately malicious. Reminder: This is the man who reveled in the Red Sox never winning, and who built a personal franchise around it. His behavior is continually shocking, but never surprising. Just ask yourself: what will Dan write to irritate the people who provide him with a living? That's what he will write. Why people still read it... I cannot say.

Mike Reiss and Christopher Price say hi.

Pretty funny when Felger of all people properly diagnoses the motives of another mediot. Per Felger and me and lots of other folks who get that Shaughnessy is simply trolling for reaction with this column and you all provide him with it.
Want to get back at Dan Shaughnessy?
IGNORE HIM AND HIS COLUMN.
He's a self absorbed dink and not respected by very many either in or out of media circles.
Do not read his columns in the Globe and do not comment on them in the Globe or post them anywhere.
STOP feeding the beast and then b!tching about the fact that he's being fed.

yipee!! now i feel more confident considering that in the last few big games, the outcome was the opposite of what this 'columnist' - who knows zilch about the Pats - predicted.

Stick to baseball Danny Boy. Oh wait, you can't, the Red Sox aren't the beloved losers that were your bread and butter of writing. Yes, the depressing articles we all had to endure before the internet when we actually read the paper. 3 championships for the Patriots, 3 for the Red Sox and chalk up a recent one for the Bs as well. Try moving to basketball, they are terrible right now. You will fit right in with your doom and gloom style.

Have not read one article all week and don't plan on reading any local or national. Seriously ... what am I going to read in an article that I have not already seen with my own eyes. I've been watching the Patriots all year of course and I've seen Denver play a few games. Media people tend to be as wrong as they are right.

Not even reading any such threads here either ... :nono:

I'll just wait for the game ... much less annoying

Game will be close ... turnovers and injuries will determine the winner. :idea2:

I didn't click the link or read the article but feel like I've probably read it before. I'd interpret that as a good omen. That putz is way off base more often than not.

I just hate the fact that we put links to this guys articles and drive views and ultimately money his way. He's not interesting or talented enough to warrant any attention what-so-ever.

There are so many talented writers out there who lack his obsession for self-promotion who I'd rather help out.

If only we could all do our part to stop feeding the boston globe machine. Until we hit them in their wallets, they'll continue giving us garbage sports writers and radio mediots. STOP SUPPORTING THE STUPID!!!

Thankfully, we have a coach who is well prepared and quite experienced in handling his players and all situations with the media. If this were anyone else but Belichick, it may hurt.

It's actually a bit sad that Belichick doesn't get as much respect as he has earned, but it's also possible that this kind of stuff keeps a chip firmly planted on his shoulder. That of course, only continues to help to rack up 12+ win seasons every year.

The ironic thing is that should they win just one more game, many of these mediots would change their tune as quickly as the wind shifts.

Ignore the noise. That's all Shaughnessy is -- a living, breathing, noise source.

"as for shaughnessy pay him no attention. the guy is the WORST media member in boston."

Disagree.....the WORST has to be TomA$$ho......or BorgA$$!!!....Shauna$$hee is definitely a douche.........Amazing that all of this morons have ***** IN their names.......F' them all....GO PATS!!!!!

THey read this article from the Denver post on Toucher & rich this morning with sappy background music. I nearly died laughing.

as for shaughnessy pay him no attention. the guy is the WORST media member in boston. he doesnt care about the story, all he cares about is getting his own kicks. I bet this article is a rehashed from 2001 when they played the rams. The way he writes these articles is so he is never wrong.

look at the one vs. the colts. pats win = I told you so, pats lose = belicheck is horrible!, ownership is horrible!

Sorry, the Patriots are going to lose to the Broncos - Sports - The Boston Globe

Don't have access to the article, but just from the headline I can tell it's a gem.

Edit: Here's my favorite part: "But we all know they are not that good. And they have no familiarity with road games in the playoffs. The 2013 Patriots were a pedestrian 4-4 on the road. They have not played a road playoff game in seven years"

The redheaded stepchild strikes again. Tell me again why this guy still has a job covering football, when he knows nothing about it?

PS Didn't Kraft buy the Globe yet or did that move not go through?

Anyone know who Shaugnessy picked in the November game?

CHB must be laughing at the little storm he caused.

the contrarian D-bag that he is.

yep. As are his pals Borges, Felger, and Masserotti. I have no problem with anyone picking Denver, they are the favorite and should be given that they are at home coming off a record breaking season, however I do have a problem with the fact that his paper would allow him to run a that piece of garbage. He could have made a real case for the Bronco's based upon how well Manning has played, the fact that they have strong run game to complement their passing attack, they are at home, and the patriots have seriously depleted team, however instead he makes trite claims like "we know they aren't that good," and points to them not playingroad play-off games when the fact is they were too good to play them, it doesn't get any weaker than that.

The contrarians have it wrong this time, if they really wanted to be "contrary" they would pick the Patriots, after all they are the underdogs.
