Heard on the radio he looked quick and nimble. Looks like he close to 100% and he gives Brady a legit red zone target!!

Brady is fine - - at least he was Sunday afternoon.

My brother's friend texted him from the Esplanade playground and Brady was out there playing with his son hours after the game.

Well, don't just sit there. Text your brother to text his friend to text Brady's kid to ask his dad if he's okay, and if Dobson is going to play, and if Aiken is better so he can long-snap without sailing the ball to the one yard line, and if Allen is okay, and if he can punt in the thin air in Denver, and if he will hold, or if his dad is going to hold for Gostkowski, and if Peyton Manning is as big a d-bag as he seems, and please let his dad know we all love him even if he doesn't throw any touchdown passes and lets the running backs carry the load, OK?

Maybe you should tell your brother to tell his friend to tell Brady's kid that it would easier if he would get an account at patsfans.com and just answer all of our questions directly. And he can tell his dad that we'd love it if he would join in on the Jets suck thread.

Please correct me if my impression of what you are saying is wrong. Im not trying to put words in your mouth, just trying to understand the concept.

If we line up with Dobson split out you think that the Broncos will play man on him and put a safety over top consistently but if we put Edelman, Thompkins or Collie wide, they will play man whereever they go and have the safety ignore him?

If thats the case, I want Edelman/Thompkins or Collie split out wide and catching 30 passes between them.

No, I think that you're right when you say 'you cover routes.' But I think the route tree that the defense has to be aware of when you split Dobson out versus Thompkins/Collie is wider, and that alters the defense a little bit in a way that is advantageous to the Patriots.

Here's a carefully edited video from today's practice;

Report from the field

The clips I see are just of his light jogging. Stacey James must've stood over the editor with a scissors.

Of course right after hearing that I heard Ainge made another trade for more draft picks but ensuring that Cs lose even more games this year. He figures with the Pats at the top of the news he can slowly dismantle and rebuild the Cs.

.....or I can just ask NEM's cousin's trainer's pet sitter.

You have to assume Thompkins will play. Looked like he got a concussion in the game and if he is practicing, it is doubtful he won't be cleared to play.

Dobson is all about pain management. Unless he refractured the foot three weeks ago, he should be closer to being 100%. He may just have tried to give it a go against the Bills and couldn't deal with the pain. Three weeks later, the pain may be more manageable.

KT along with Dobson were listed as limited in practice today. Having both would be huge.

YES! YES YES YES YES YES! My head would explode in ecstatic bliss! :p

My point is that if you send Dobson deep or Collie deep you still have to cover it.
Not saying you, but many posts on this forum act as if we could split a WR and send him deep out and the defense would just ignore him because they 'don't respect him as a deep threat'.
If any receiver on our roster could split out and get man coverage with no help consistently, we would be scoring 50 points every game.

You can't just let anyone get wide open, but different receivers get varying degrees of defensive attention based on talent.Teams employ different coverage schemes for a reason, and they all have vulnerabilities. Shells designed to defend short passes may be vulnerable to the deep ball and vice versa. Nobody is suggesting the Broncos would ignore Collie on a deep route, rather, they are suggesting that their gameplan would emphasize covering short passes at the expense of potentially being vulnerable to the deep ball. The Broncos would be smart to do so because the Pats don't have anyone with the speed or size to consistently take advantage of their chosen coverage scheme. It's ludicrous to suggest you can send just anyone down the field and have success.

I'm pretty sure that Bethel Johnson ran nothing but deep routes when we had him because he wasn't exactly versatile but he had blinding speed. We didn't score 50 points a game due to him. Talent has as much to do with it as the routes and the plays called. Let's not oversimplify here.

I think having Dobson running at the X and running the deep route trees would be more effective than Collie or KT. In other words this is good news for our offense.

And positive gains tend to have domino effects. Just look at what a healthy Talib means for our defense. And that's not to undersell what Dennard or Ryan give us either, it's just that Talib caused a chain reaction with our defense. Hopefully Dobson can produce a similar if smaller net gain for our passing offense.

PS If you want to see a dramatic example of a player drawing coverage due to talent/reputation, then you need only review clips of Gronk on offense. He was so dominant that the defense gravitated towards him like a small moon wherever he was on the football field. And this opened up the field for other players such as Edelman. Now I doubt Dobson has quite the effect on the field as a Gronk, but you get the general idea.

The Broncos stats are distorted by teams abandoning the run to pass, pass, pass, trying to catch up. So Bronc run defense is overstated; and pass Defense understated somewhat. But that was when they had a pass rush and healthy CBs, which they DON'T have now.

The roses are blooming. Smell the flowers.
Thats what ive thought. Teams are abandon the run because they have to try an keep up with manning running up the score.

any word on how he looked from media members? that is the key here...if he looks pretty good out there he can definitely be a big help on the outside if they leave him uncovered 1 on 1 to double edelman

Media get to watch stretching but not practice. Likely have to wait until Sunday to see if he is active.
