Broncos defense vs Patriots offense

The loss of Matthews affected what the Chargers were trying to do. He had 5 carries for 20 something yards a good 4-5 yard average. Denver will face the 2 headed monster in Ridley and Blount while having to account for a shifty and speedy Vereen. What worries me is our passing game we have no catching Tight End or a Keenan Allen, but Brady and Belichick will be ready I hope.

Play action downfield on the first play

Our run game is more important in the red zone than simply while moving the chains, but SD sure didnt prep DEN for our run game

I think instead of going to the run we should just unleash Tom to gut their pitiful secondary like a fish.

I hope Dobson is healthy enough to play, and be effective on the field on Sunday. That could help to soften the defense of the Broncos.

Chris Harris Jr. is a big loss if he's out Sunday.

Brady's never had an issue lighting up Del Rios defense, I don't think that will change now. Hopefully Thompkins can go but if he can't I think we'll be able to pass the ball with Collie, Edelman, and Amendola.

Stingy? :bricks::bricks:

The Chargers thought the Broncos had the 2005 Champ Bailey and Antonio Cromartie from last year instead of the 2013 Bailey and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and decided to play conservative on offense for three quarters. Even Phil Simms called out Wisenhunt for forgetting the Broncos' secondary sucks until the fourth quarter.

The Broncos defense the same one that the Pats' faced in November minus Von Miller.

Unfortunately I would be surprised if Dobson played. And if he does, he'll likely be far from 100%.

What kind of injury does Dobson have anyway? Seems like hes been hurt for ages.

This.

Something a lot of you probably didn't know, but Chris Harris has been by far our best and most consistent corner this season. He's the one guy we've relied on all season, and he got hurt about halfway through the game today with almost no announcements by the sideline reporters or commentators. Once he left, SD's defense went from doing nothing all game, to picking on Quentin Jammer and suddenly coming up with big plays.

It's a knee injury and he's getting tests done tomorrow. Beat writers are reporting that he's in good spirits (though they said the same about Von the night after he tore his ACL) and that the swelling is not that bad (not a doctor, no idea if that's indicative of anything or not).

A few unsubstantiated rumors on twitter from random people with "inside sources" that it's a torn ACL or MCL, but haven't seen anything even close to official.

If it's nothing and he can play, I do think our defense will surprise you. With the exception of only a few games, our rush defense was very good this season, and was very good today. If he can't play though and Jammer is starting in the secondary, yeah...we'll have issues.

I don't think our defense is as bad as a lot of people have been saying it is this year, and I think we'll see that play out next Sunday. I hope so, at least.

I agree. That's why I said "hope." Just don't want to see the Patriots offense again limited to between the hashes. It's the main reason I was fine with Welker leaving. Speaking if which, hope they kick his ass and he drops an important 3rd down conversion in the upcoming game.

A stress fracture in his foot. Supposedly, it is more about pain management at this point (at least I heard that on the radio from I think Chris Price). He tried to give it a go in the last game of the season and couldn't handle the pain obviously. Hopefully, three weeks later he can.

If I was a betting man though, I would bet against him playing.

The question from our point of view is: Will the Pats have any receivers outside of Edelman who can exploit his absence in a meaningful way. Right now, I'd say not really.

Still confident in the Pats running game, short passing and defense though.

But the Pats offense is missing Gronk, who helped in the comeback win in that game. I would say Gronk is more important than Miller is to their respective team. But I also don't see the Pats turning the ball over 3 straight times to open the game either.

The Pats didn't have this LeGarrett Blount and Ridley was benched after his second or third carry for fumbling the ball (so was Blount for that matter).

That might work if we had even one healthy downfield threat. Perhaps you are suggesting Amendola, the only downfield threat in recent weeks.

Play action downfield on the first play
