The Pat on the right in that picture is Matthew Slater. They've been putting him in on goal line plays for exactly that purpose -- putting a good block on a safety.

That's what I thought. I couldn't figure who had a "zero" for a second uni number — and who had that build (definitely wasn't Mankins, Ninko or Amendola). Thought that might be an "8."

Nice block by the way.

Thanks.

Not only was Vellano engaged at the time facing another direction, Nink was being held on the play. Luck's tripping was incidental, not a penalty.

I think that's Slater, he's included in one of those power pkg in the goal line per Reiss

Stayed up until 4am

In the UK to watch the Pats beat the Colts.

LeGarrette Blount, what a performance from this lad!

I agree, bring on the Broncos.

It is being show live at around 8pm in the UK so it's not too late.

Two weird stats from Football Outsiders

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | AFC Divisional Round Preview

A bad loss in New England would seem to fit the pattern well for the Colts, who have beaten three of the remaining teams in the playoffs. The Patriots offer a difficult road test. New England actually led the league in DVOA variance, which factors in offense, defense and special teams. Their units may have gone through a lot of ebb and flow, but no team has put in a more consistent overall performance this season than the Patriots.

They were ranked 5th overall, BTW.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Audibles at the Line: Divisional Round

@squalltimore: 2013 Colts final scores that had never happened in NFL history: 39-33, 38-8, 40-11, 45-44, 43-22.

Five out of 18 games.

Re: Two weird stats from Football Outsiders

Since all the Pats losses were close, the first stat doesn't seem that odd. How many of those odd scoring games were in OT?
