Really!? Putting aside who the teams are, it takes an entire day to move a team across the country, packing, flying, unpacking, local travel to the site, hotel hassles, etc. You'd actually elect to do that to your team, taking them away from friends, family, familiar and easy game prep facilities, etc.?

And you'd choose to take a home playoff game away from Pats fans?

And the revenue away from the local businesses and Kraft empire?

And the natural home field advantage, generally assumed to be worth 2.5 points?

And to give that revenue and pleasure and points to another team and its fans?

And to deny the Pats' opponent the difficulty that the travel brings with it?

Regardless of how the Manning and Denver hate shows up in this conversation, this is wrong on so many levels.

And yeah, I'd much rather see Manning miserable today and be done with his face for the year. That, too.

May the odds forever be in whoever favor. I have said it a couple of times, be careful who you root for. Who here wasn't rooting for the Jets a couple of years ago?

Exactly! Keep it simple, never root for the Broncos/Manning.

A broncos vs patriots match up would be as epic because it wouldnt be brady vs manning but rather, manning vs the patriots running game

We match up better with them than SD. Plus Peyton in the playoffs is a gift for the Pats. Don't care if it's in Denver.

Go Broncos!

Good thing they don't drug test posters here.

Denver the team and Denver the home field is a MUCH more difficult task for the Patriots. It's not even close.
If Tom Brady doesn't find some WRs to throw to so he can balance this offense you'll be regretting your wish in about 8 days.

And the value of that "epic-ness" would be dwarfed a thousandfold by the fact that it would be played in Denver.

Well said. I'd much rather see New England playing at home for thee AFCG than going on the road, regardless of where that might be. Seeing Manning's dour face, his willingness to toss his teammates under the bus AGAIN and wwatch his body-lickers in the press try and explain his failure AGAIN is something I'd love to observe.

Besides, no matter how talented the team is, having to travel cross country for three weeks in a row takes a toll on the body and mind. It's a given, and to see Manning's dour face followed by Rivers' sour **** would be a great treat.

Now, Karma will likely bite me a mite because of what I've written, but that's okay. I rarely take pleasure from the sufferings of others, but in Manning & Rivers case, I'll make an exception. :D

Why are the Broncos the better matchup??

I have no faith in our short passing game consistently getting it done against either team, which means we will need to rely on the running game again.

Denver is 9th against the run (3.9 YPC) and SD is 27th (4.6 YPC).

The other big thing is that the pass interference calls are more likely to go your way at home, and in the playoffs, that can mean 100 yards of field position. Never mind the altitude...SD presents some challenges (they are the more balanced offense), but you have to be rooting for them here.

As much as I think the Pats can beat DEN, I feel more confident vs SD.

Regardless, you take the home game every time in January vs a warm weather team.

It's my preference that Peyton adds to his legacy of one and done playoff performances. I need a little comedic relief after my intense level of concentration today.

Seeing Manning win another SB is probably the worst possible outcome of the postseason. It will make every second of football I've watched in 2013-14 a prelude to misery. I want him out of the playoffs ASAP.

This thread is jinxing the team, we all know the broncos will beat the chargers but there is no need for overconfidence. When we go to Denver they'll have the advantage as the home team.

DEN beating SD is not a shoo-in by any means.

Stat of the Day: Peyton Manning is 4-8 in 1st playoff games.

It'll be a little windy and in the mid-30s in DEN today. Since SD has a better running game and Rivers has a stronger arm and SD's defense is playing better than DEN's D, an upset is very possible.

Warm weather team to F'bro to face the Meat Grinder.

Go Broncos!

NOBODY matches up better with Denver than San Diego. Are you nuts?

Denver will have Thomas, Thomas, Welker, and Decker on the field at the same time. San Diego can't match that - at all.

San Diego's strength (and this is why they match up as well against Denver as any AFC team) is that their staff knows Manning well and they take away the deep ball. I think a defense really good at playing center field will have a bit of a problem against the Patriots.

I like our chances against either, but if it's the Bolts in the Razor, I'd be SHOCKED if the Pats lost. In Denver, it will be nail-biting time.

I'll root for the Chargers ... nothing better than another home game for the good guys.

Definitely this. I will never root to play against Peyton in his house for the playoffs. That's just stupid. I'll take a home playoff game against anyone before this.

Be careful what you wish for.... :boink:

Just delete this idiotic thread NOW.

Watch it get bumped after the Broncos win today and the beat us next week or something

The title alone makes me cringe when I see it on the forum.

Just delete it now. It has jinx and bad karma written all over it like similar threads have in the past.

I'm not going to get into all the stuff about how great it would be to beat Peyton again to get to the SB...my reaction is a big "whatever" to all of that...

What I do know is that Brady is 2--4 in Denver over his career and that I'd rather the Pats have a home game against a team they've generally owned in the Playoffs than go on the road against a team that broke most O records this year.

Go Chargers!

I want fivehead to lose for a couple reasons. Obviously a home game is more desirable than a road game but what really makes me smile is the thought of Peyton going one and done again. But the biggest thing is if Peyton wins I am not going to be able to watch any AFCCG coverage all week because it will be the usual Manning ballwash and I can't tolerate that.
