So far as I can tell, that was Danny Aiken's first career fumble.

Lonie Paxton only ever had 2, and 1 of them was the intentional safety in Denver. (The other was the same year, and I've forgotten it.)

That said, I'm having a little trouble finding stats, and settled for regular season only ones.

My real concern is that reporting has suggested the FG kicking team had to fight through some dubious snaps, and in 2012-13 it seemed as if that sometimes didn't work out well. But it's not as if I've watched film on that myself.

So anyhow -- just how reliable has Aiken actually been?

I don't expect him back in 2014.

Either whatever problems Aiken might have had are not of concern to Belichick, or there simply aren't any good replacements available on the street.

People on this board are ridiculous. This kid has been solid since being drafted, but he has one bad snap and they want him gone. Seriously this is just another stupid thread.

Wasn't Steven Belichick a long snapper at Rutgers?

I've posted concerns about Aiken multiple times.

Absolutely ridiculous, hysterical and breathless. It was one snap, girls. Jesus.

Tough night to snap, with the rain and all. However, he also had a near ground ball to Gostkowski also. The Gost bailed him out big time on it. That being said, %$^& happens with a wet field/ball conditions......wish someone would have thought of that when they were unfairly ripping Ridley.

if you want to complain about something, complain about switching the offense and the punting unit at the last second resulting in a 5 yard penalty which led to the bad snap.

Most likely for no good reason then. Aiken has never had any issues since being drafted. Seriously, how many bad snaps has he had in his career? Maybe one or two. People here just nitpick way too often and sound stupid doing so.

Ryan Allen has bailed him out of numerous bad field goal snaps this season.

The 5 yard penalty caused the bad snap? Really?

I don't recall Paxton being bailed out of off-target snaps with the same frequency Aiken has.

Off target snaps? Bailed out by Ryan Allen who's never held before this year? Please just stop grasping at straws. Aiken has been just fine since he's been drafted. He had one bad snap and one low snap in terrible conditions today. God forbid he's had a few snaps an inch high or low in some other games over the past few years. I guess people need to complain about something, so it seems like the long snapper is getting it this week since there's little else to complain about.

Why don't you please just stop being a jerk?

Patriots' Danny Aiken Has to Fine Tune His Long Snapping | Bleacher Report reminds us of Aiken's problems a preseason ago.

The concern is the frequency of Aiken’s inaccuracy.

Ryan Allen?s punt gave Patriots the drop on Broncos - Sports - The Boston Globe reminds us of a more recent challenge.

Aiken’s downwind snap caught a gust and veered 3 feet off-line, forcing Allen to lunge low and left. Caught, but too close for comfort.

And even tonight Aiken had more than one problem, per Ryan Allen?s punt gave Patriots the drop on Broncos - Sports - The Boston Globe

Gostkowski — still not a punter, but still punting in place of the injured Allen — fielded a low snap

The snap from Danny Aiken was a bit off. Punter Ryan Allen, in his first game at any level as a holder, made a nice play to get it down for Gostkowski.

I agree. I've seen some pretty low snaps by Aiken, which Allen was able to pluck and quickly kick.

Allen & Mesko have rescued Aiken a number of times fielding his bad snaps (usually they tend to be low, though) on punts, PATs and FGs.

In fact, even Gostkowski had to catch a snap from around his ankles at one point last night too!

In a GREAT game by Gostkowski, I think that one was his finest.

Could have been a disaster there.
