Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've played

I dunno if I believe this story. We've seen players be late and be relegated to the bench for a quarter or two, not released. Hard to believe that BB would dump someone intentionally who could help the team right before a playoff game. Plus, why place him on injured reserve? Just release him then. I'm not buying it.

Not saying that I do or don't believe in the story, but the answer to your question comes in 2 forms:

1. It allows Spikes to collect his playoff money while not filing a grievance with the league

2. It prevents another team from picking him up

Can we please stop this "World Champions" thing ? Just ridiculous. I mean I currently am the World Champion of eating flakes while walking 101 yards while picking my nose....

Re: Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've pl

You are in the wrong forum. The coach you want is in New Jersey.

Exactly … The Sexy Wrechksie philosophy. How to lose control of a team in three easy steps.

If Footie has his way, Spikes will probably be sharing a locker room with Santonio Holmes next season

Re: Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've pl

I've wanted too see more Fletcher anyway.

When does the commemorative DVD come out?

If we act now from the ground up, we all have the potential to back him/her and make a lot of money.

"101 yards to glory."

Re: Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've pl

I agree. Spikes gave the team all he had by playing on 1 leg and they wanted to cut him because he was late?

The patriot way :bricks:

So when did you start following this team? Yesterday? Does the name Adalius Thomas mean anything to you? All he had? but he couldn't buy an alarm clock? Others managed to make it to practice on time but not Brandon? Hmmmm....

uhh no, you were the runner up, I ate 14 bowls of flakes, 2 lbs of boogers, while walking 101 yards in 6.7 seconds.

come at me bro.

C'mon, you know no "her" would ever say something like that!

Re: Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've pl

I'm sure this is ESPN-created bull.

It doesn't make sense that his agent would have pushed this - would he really think that by portraying Spikes as a discipline problem in the locker room, he'd somehow be increasing his market value? I don't buy it.

Someone at ESPN saw the snowbank pic, saw the IR report, and decided to throw out a stupid story trying to link the 2.

I'm inclined to agree that a lot is being made out of nothing.

If in fact Spike's tardiness was an issue, he would've been suspended rather than IR'ed.

Being put on IR means he still has access to team facilities and will still be part of the team as far as activities, film study, and games. If we see Spikes anywhere near the team tonight (e.g., sidelines), that would answer the question, I would think.

I get all that...but I don't want to see a guy like Spikes playing AGAINST us.
I seriously thing he brings lumber on every hit and his ferocity vs the Pats will be something I will literally be afraid of. Does anyone hit harder than this guy?

I once left for a practice 2 hours early, in good weather, because I wanted to get some gym work in ahead of time. Due to traffic conditions that arose after I left, I was an hour late for practice and never got to the gym.

**** happens.

None of the local media people have reported this or confirmed the story. They are always sniffing around for a story and probably have better contacts within the team than Mort. But it might be true, who knows.

What I find interesting is the way some "fans" react on this board, right out of the gate, to a non-confirmed story.

Reminds me of "they hate their coach."

While people may dismiss them, espn's "sources" are the best. Someone in the patriots origination leaked this information and i wouldn't be shocked if it was spikes.

So, I guess, your mantra is "When you're sinking in a hole, just keep digging"?

Don't compare lazy ass adalius to a player who was playing with an injury that most would sit out with.

Re: Brandon Spikes news: late for team meeting, was going to be released; could've pl

If some team in the playoffs wins by running the ball right down our throat up the A and B gaps, Belichick is going to have a lot of 'splainin to do.

EDIT: That's if this report is true.

I am torn. I understand that he needs to be disciplined in some way but I hate hate hate it when they are taken out of the biggest most important game of the season. Who are we throwing into the fire right now? If Spikes can go we could really use him out there. I know we have Collins and Fletcher but come on.

Not quite the same but I thought BB sitting Welker early in the playoff game against the Jets was an infuriatingly terrible decision.

Do you honestly think the pats didn't try to hide this story because they didn't want it to be an distraction?

Exactly. Spikes has gone above and beyond in toughness to help win.
