If the NFL could setup their perfect storybook AFC Championship Game, which one do you think they would prefer.......

Brady vs. Mannig - first time in the playoffs since the 2006 season and perhaps maybe the last time ever (if Brady or Manning retires following a Super Bowl victory)

or.........

Manning vs. Colts - Peyton going against the team that got rid of their future Hall of Fame quarterback. Peyton vs. his replacement. Revenge for getting rid of him, and revenge for the loss earlier this year.

Brady vs Manning In the AFCCG would be what everyone wants to see I think it would hit rating of some past super bowls

I'd imagine they'd "want" Brady VS Manning. Two of their biggest stars going at it on just about the biggest stage. That game would have HUGE ratings.

The Brady vs. Manning thing has been beaten to death over the years.

I think they would want Manning vs. Luck for all the drama.

Brady v. Manning. Hands down.

Two reasons:

1) Another face off in what is now and will long be the storied rivalry between the two greatest QB's of their and many generations. The Luck/Colts vs. Manning/Elway story line is only of immediate and strong interest to people in Indy and Denver.

2) (Pats fans won't like this one.) Outside of New England and Patriots Nation, a lot of guys like Manning (the Papa John's guy who makes fun of himself in commercials and speaks with a down home twang) and don't like Brady (the guy married to the Super Model who touts Uggs and gets his picture taken in designer duds at trendy restaurants and society events). So, from the NFL's perspective, you would have the added element of a lot of people actively pulling against one of the players; the more intense the interest, the more likely they are to watch the contest.

All the league and the owners care about is money and the New England fan base is much larger than Indianapolis. And Mannnig is a bigger draw than Phil Rivers so they would want NE vs Denver hands down.

I think if the week 12 game didn't have the epic comeback and turn out to be a phenomenally entertaining football game, the Brady VS. Manning thing might have lost some fizzle this year. But as it was, it became another classic between the two, so I think they want that again, no question.

I don't disagree with you guys. But I just think this year its all about Manning. And the network storybook would be The old master beating the young gun of his old team in a revenge game.
Its all about Manning this year. I believe they want to whitewash his choke artist career. Get him the superbowl against the vaunted Seattle defense. And then he retires.

For me I think Brady/Manning edges it. How many more times will these guys face off? Not many. How often do they face off in a game with such ramifications? Not very often.

A Broncos/Patriots Championship game would flare up the 'best of the era' debate and a Brady win would shut everyone up once and for all...especially if he seals it with a fourth ring.

What about if it doesn't matter because fivehead chokes and goes one and done again?

I don't think anybody would be surprised if that happened.

I know I wouldn't be surprised at all (I'm giving it a 50/50 shot).

In 2007 and 2012 it was setup to be a Brady vs Manning both hosting the divisional round. Everyone wanted that matchup but Manning ends up choking at home (shocker). Wouldn't surprise me if it happens again.

Brady/Manning is a clash of Good (Peyton) vs Evil (Brady/Belichick)

Straight Shooter vs Cheaters

The Good Ol Boy vs the Eastern Elites

Class envy, all the political rage these days, on a roll. Mega ratings.

Next year with the Pats in smoldering ruins the league can move onto

Young Gun (Luck) vs Old Guard (Manning)

We'll get a foreshadowing of that theme Saturday night

If the NFL could write their storylines they'd want the Patriots to win but barely because it would help set the stage for a future rivalry.

And then at some future date Luck and the Colts would beat Brady and the Pats setting up the whole 'changing of the guard' storyline.

And obviously they'd love Manning vs. Brady part 2342342

And if it's the NFL, somehow, you know they'll try to get Archie Manning to co-chair in the booth (ok, bad joke, but you know they'd do it if they could)

We have 2 First Ballot Hall of Famers nearing the end of their careers, but still producing like elite QBs. We may not get too many more meetings like this. Plus, there's plenty of history that the networks can pull up. with Manning/colts it is very limited what they can say and the story lines would be more predictable.

brady vs manning.

If the colts had home field advantage manning in indy might edge it out, but since the game is in denver gotta go with the 1 and 2 seeds brady vs manning.

Papa johns vs papa ginos.

or from my perspective, a case of...

rags-to-riches hard work and perseverance (Brady) vs. silver spoon / destined for greatness bonus baby glamour boy (Peyton)

clutch (Brady) vs. choker (Peyton)

private quiet assassin (Brady) vs. media-savvy hock-anything-to-make-a-buck TV suckup (Peyton)

lots of contrast for sure.

you also got good and evil reversed. If only more people would google "Jamie Ann Naughright Manning scandal"

No way Peyton Manning retires after this season, win or lose. He's the biggest record chaser outside of the Big Easy.

I think they want Brady v Manning round 2 more than Luck v Manning

What do you mean, if?
