Breaking News we got Stallworth..

team chemistry is pretty important too, but i mean, these guys all may mesh together well, we'll see

it's just funny how you guys used to laugh at teams who "won free agency" because they were all excited without even playing a game.

Those teams we laugh at are usually the ones who had 2-4 wins the season before and are then touted as being SB favorites. As opposed to a team that was within a few minutes of the SB after kicking the daylights out of at least one Cinderella team (SD, I'm looking at you).

This will be one fun upcoming season!

One thing almost all the NFL experts agreed on: Of all the WR's on the market this spring, including Moss, the #1 best fit for the Patriots was Donte Stallworth.
yeah well, we'll see if his hammy holds up, this is a guy people were laughing at when he got arrested in miami, but i understand, now he's "a pat" so he's cool

doing a good redskins impression like i said

there is a reason teams don't do well after 'winning' the free agency period, we'll see if the pats continue that trend or break it.

How are the Pats doing a Redskins impression? Which UFA that they signed did they drastically OVER-PAY for?

Adalius Thomas and his 5 year/$35 million contract?
Kyle Brady and his 2 year/$5.3 million contract?
Donte Stallworh and his 6yr/$30 million contract which the real details haven't been released yet?
Sammie Morris and his 4 yr/$7 million contract?

Those are all very reasonable contracts when you look at them.

The pats are paying only MARKET VALUE for players. They aren't the Redskins who pay significantly OVER market value.

yeah that was weird how you guys played in indy, you never used to lose that type of game, doesn't this all seem like a hurried panic move because of that one game?

Not at all. I don't see any panic moves with what we have done.

Maybe if we had overpaid one of those O-Linemen that were going around, yeah that would be panic. The only signing that remotely screams of concern would be getting KBrady to replace Graham. Other than that, all upgrades.

you'll have the answer at the end of the 07 season if you're this years redskins or not

get happy now, but , not one single game has been played yet.

i'm just surprised you guys are getting so happy over free agent signings, it seems so unlike you, i guess it's because it's been a while since you made a 'splash'

How about you have Norv Turner help you clean up that spilled milk...

we'll see during the 07 season

any free agent winner is the redskins , till they break that trend

it's just history in the salary cap era, it is what it is, till you actually prove otherwise.

i know though, "because it's the pats spending, it must be good" i'd probably be saying the same thing if my team had to sign a bunch of FAs

Hey, maybe it has to do more with the team that does the signing, as opposed to signing a good deal of FAs. The Redskins have been the winners in free agency the last several years, and their talent evaluation, cap management, and draft techniques are all faulty. The Pats signed something like 21 free agents before the '01 Super Bowl season. How'd that work out for them that year?

The difference with the Pats methods are that they have the money to spend, they are targeting areas that they needed to improve, and have done so with good players. The only questionable signing, in my mind, is Stallworth, because of the ability of him to play in this offensive system. Thomas was signed to a relatively cap friendly deal and his versatility is perfect for how BB likes to use his LBs, Brady is a replacement role player at a reasonable price, Morris was signed for just over a million a year and Welker was signed to a 5 year 18 million dollar deal, nothing outrageous (draft compensation may have been a little pricey). They are not over the top signings, and are all fits for what the Pats needs were and are Patriots players.

ya know i laughed at the brady move but that one makes sense when i heard it was just because of blocking, because the 3rd string TE seems like he has potential, same with watson.

and yeah it's not like you paid dockery 7/49 i'm just saying it seems so out of character for the pats to sign FA's

if i was a pats fan the only guys i'd be excited about would be AD and welker

call me crazy but stallworth just seems like a wasted player, he's injured or causing problems half the time, i followed his progress in NO, right through his arrest, on to philly, but maybe the 3rd time's the charm for him.

At least it will make for an interesting 07 season.

We have our deep threat!! Brady to Stallworth all day boys!! Great signing, the troops are starting to come together.

Check out my post number and figure out how I will celebrate this signing

You know what just hit me we still have two number 1s, 19-0 here we come :rocker:

eh, turner's never had a team that he didn't inherit at 4-12 so the jury's still out on him, beats having the biggest choker ever as our head coach though.

we'll see once the 07 season begins, stallworth is a big walking hamstring issue from what i remember. the only real difference so far is you guys still kept your draft picks which is great.

like i said though, free agency winners = regular season losers usually

we'll see if that trend gets broken.

Stallworth did have some issues last year, but still played in 12 games. Prior to that, he played in all the games the previous two seasons with the Saints.

Also, I believe that the Pats will be giving or have given Stallworth a physical to ensure that his hamstring is ok.

i hear ya, usually you guys are great at talent evaluation, wtf did ya draft a florida wr though? those guys are like the plague (i know, we drafted reche)

Is Branch a wasted player????

Over the same time period

Stallworth has played in 1 more game, averaged 2 ypc better, has 10 more TD's, more yards and signed for less money...

Reche seemed to do fine with Brady throwing him the ball.:D

yeah a physical is pretty standard, and i'm sure they've protected themselves in the contract, in case he acts like he did in NO again.
