And you should! IMO what this team has gone through this year between murders, injuries, and large deficits there is no reason not to be confident in this teams ability to handle anything put in front of them.

Plus TB and BB and I got that feeling.....

I got this feeling after KT caught the game winner against NO.

Unfortunately, the last team which I had that "feeling" about was….2010? The 14-2 team which flopped spectacularly against the Jets. So yeah, I don't listen to those feelings much.

This. Everything was going our way that season and it all fell apart for what seemed like no reason at all. It's just completely unpredictable and momentum and "feelings" mean nothing. I just hope this year ends in a Patriots Super Bowl victory, regardless of what people predict or feel.

that 2010 jets loss was as heartbreaking as any losses including 2 SBs for me. in SBs, i chicken out and always expect the worst. but that game against the jets? i was so confident that we will beat them comfortably. that really was a horrible loss.

I know and it came out of nowhere, seemingly. We had just smashed them a few weeks before.

I remember that was the season we let Moss go. I remember his last game here was the Miami one where we beat Miami in every conceivable way you can beat a team. Tom came to the sidelines all fired up after one great play and he and BB had a epic moment together. It was bittersweet because Moss was acting like a baby but you had the sense the team had banded together and was on a mission. That was the genesis of "the feeling" for me. 14-2, and just playing awesome. Then boom. Flat and lifeless against the bloody Jets of all teams.

This team has that fight, grinding out wins. Last second comebacks. This team is different from the past 5 teams IMO. This team reminds me of the early pats. Nothing special, just wait until the playoffs.

It's not like I want them to lose, obviously I don't. I'm just saying I put very little stock in feelings about these things. Today's "We have all the momentum, we are a team of destiny" is tomorrow's "Well, we had all these issues/injuries, it was only a matter of time before reality set in."

And when cundiff missed a chipshot FG in 2011 .

Amen.

We looked amazing last season too, setting a lot of offensive records, with one for an absurd third down conversation rate. Our team was stomping people out last season bad.

We looked amazing, right up until the point that we didn't look amazing at all.

We've won a lot of regular season games, and I really like this new and developing team, but no Gronkowski again in the play offs is just a killer.

It is a killer every time.

2011, 2012, and now 2013 all have one common theme, that's so far lead to us sputtering to a stop against the right defense, and that's that we have no Gronk.

Still, I'm as optimistic as a fan of any team that makes the tournament!

I don't think we have momentum or destiny. This team is the kind of team you don't want to play in the playoffs. That hard nosed, physical, fight for 60 minutes team. Add in the fact they could have a bye and have the secondary and skill players healthy, it is a team you don't like to face. Like the giants, packers and ravens of the past.

I'm not sure why so many people had that feeling about the 2010 squad. That 14-2 record was an absolute mirage and earned due to the fact that the defense was amazing at getting their hands on turnovers... in the regular season. When they couldn't, it was obvious that they were bad. Even when they did, it was obvious it was a defense that wasn't going to work in the playoffs. Shortly after the "let's hear it for the homers", thread was posted, the issues that followed the team all season in spite of the record reared their ugly head and the Pats lost to a team that they beat 45-3 earlier.

As for this year? The AFC is weak. Any team in the dance this time around has a shot.

All good points. But here's the thing that troubles me…..the AFC is weak. It sure is. I don't know about you but there is no way in hell I want to make another Superbowl and lose it. It just isn't enough to make it to the Big Dance anymore. Back in the day, it was (we always found a way to win, it seemed) but nowadays I'm guaranteed indigestion until it is all over and the confetti has dropped.

The TB12 sound fx is on again at 10:30 on nfln FYI.

how exactly will you handle post BB/TFB ?? If a "Super Bowl" run isn't enough anymore .. just curious ..

When bb and Tom make it back in 2 months (or in another season), they will be 200% focused. You know those 2 hurt, but they won't let 3 slip by. Wouldn't be surprised if they blew the opponent out of the water also.

Recorded to dvr for later. I missed most the first time but got it this showing. :)

I am with you about 'those feelings' and the 2010 season. It doesn't really make a difference. I don't think many people were saying...'wow that 2011 team has the intangibles and heart to win a SB like '01, '03, and '04. Yet they came close to that fourth SB. In the playoffs any game can go any way. Just because we've had emotional wins and showed the clutch-like intangibles doesn't mean we can't get eliminated instantly. One 'off' game and we are toast.

Early Pats like in 2001.

In fact, the greatest win of the season was last week with the decimation on the road of the Ravens.

The Brady stat line was classic 2001: 14-26, 172 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT.

Hmmm....how will I handle it ? Without expectations, I suppose.

Exactly. The Celtics didn't go out of business after Bird-McHale-Parish stopped "walking through that door". They even had a Duckboat parade (and came damn close to two others) within a generation.
