We now play at 4:25PM so we would know the outcome of those games, if they both lose would you showcase Mallett and try to drive up any potential trade value for him?

We may have a shot at the one seed if the Broncos lose, not sure if BB would rest the starters for this one. But then again one wouldnt want any more injuries on this team.

I doubt bb rests anyone because a shot at the #1. Unless we are just running away with the game around the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

I don't see New England entertaining a trade for Mallett unless they A.) Have someone at least as good and versed in the playbook already aboard, and B.) Get some VERY high value for him.

As it stands just now, Mallett is Brady's only back up. After him, we'd have to fall back on Edelman as an emergency situation, and I just can't see that happening. I suspect that Mallett will be in New England for at least 1 more year, while they can get a replacement up to speed.

History says resting players the last week when you have a bye is not a good idea.

This. One week during a bye would be enough - how many times did Indy rest and lose ? Too many.

That's not fair to Indy. They were stuck with Peyton "One & Done" Manning.

I don't see them resting anyone. These reps will be important for the playoffs. The rooks are gonna need the last minute preparation for these huge games coming up.

no! i want brady to throw 350 yards 3 tds so his season number is 27/10 and bump his qb rating to 90!!!

Lets hope Brady does not have this in store for him this weekend

I doubt the Ravens beat the Bengals and the Pats will fight for the top seed if it is in the cards.

Bengals perennially blow chunks down the stretch...

and they're from Cincinnati...

and their uniforms are orange.

You never know which Andy Dalton will show up, the Red Rifle from TCU or the soulless ginger Bungle.

if mallet plays the pats will get blown out at home by the bills and then his trade value will go from maybe they can get a 4th round pick for him to no one will ever want him

Still have a chance at the #1 seed or #2 seed for the first round bye/homefield advantage. Wouldn't do it unless Denver had already won and we had locked up the #2 seed.

NO!
Nothing against Mallet, heck he can have the 4Q if we have the game in hand, (but you try and pull TB out, so unlikely)

1. SENDS WRONG MSG to the team; you have to play 25+ guys (11O, 11D, 3+ST), so you are seending a msg that some guys are more important the rest of you are expendable. Great for team camraderie there. Then you send a msg that 1 game isnt that important. HOW DOES THAT synch up w/ the PLAY 60 MINUTES MEME -- You also need to sprint to the finish - PLAY 16 GAMES.

2. INJURIES ARE MORE OFTEN WHEN YOU HALF-STEP. IMO when these guys go out and try to 'go through the motions' and 'take it easy-not get hurt' THAT IS WHEN THEY GET HURT.

3. as previously mentioned by other posters; guys are getting rhythms down w/ TB; you want to throw all that off. We arent just talking the game here; if RM is your starter he is doing all the practices too. So the rookies who just started clicking, then got hurt, now are getting back in synch SHOULD ADAPT TO A NEW QB 1 week before LOSE AND YOU ARE OUT???

4. also previously stated: 1 seed is still in play. Never say never in NFL land.

I think that is nuff reasons; just silly to consider.

Nope. In all likelihood they will need the win for the bye and that's when they can rest them. beyond that they need to continue developing the offensive identity they had on display last week, a pound it run game that mixes in the pass instead of relying on it to win. That will keep them out of third and long, it will keep the defense on the sideline, and it will limit drive opportunities for opposing quarterbacks, which is their best bet to get a Lombardi imo.

Yeah, let's showcase him and his throwing 700 mph fastballs into the dirt. Teams will totally trade him for a first in the offseason.

Nothing like throwing in your back up QB with no first-team practice reps to "showcase his trade value".

:bricks:

Agreed. We won't get a Matt Cassel redux based on 1 start. Keep the guy who knows the system. Let him walk next year unless someone inexplicably tosses a 2 or 3 in our direction.
