Ugh. What a kick. 64 yarder for Denver.

lol kicking records. They're the worst of all NFL records.

Don't worry, this isn't a "real" FG record because it was done in Denver with the altitude. SMH (This was total sarcasm in regard to another thread, in case you haven't seen it.)

What was the previous, 63?

This is very funny! Thank you.

But the 63 was eventually tied, and I forget where the second one was.

Now that you mention it I think the 63 yard kick in Denver tied the record.

Edit:

It has been done four times:

Tom Dempsey, New Orleans vs. Detroit, Nov. 8, 1970
Jason Elam, Denver vs. Jacksonville, Oct. 25, 1998
Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland at Denver, Sept. 12, 2011
David Akers, San Francisco at Green Bay, Sept. 9, 2012

New Orleans, by a guy with a partial foot, Dempsey

what is fascinating about that play is that when the kick was in the air, all of Denver's lineman started running horizontally into gap coverage......have a feeling before the iron bowl most offensive lineman during FG attempts would just stand there and watch.

I sit corrected. Thanks!

There was considerable grumbling back in the day as to whether it was a legit record, whether he should even be allowed to kick, etc.

But then the "soccer-style" kickers took over anyway.

On a day where we just lost our best skill position player for the 3rd year in a row (this one being the most serious) as we head towards the playoffs, forgive me for not giving a damn...

Good for the Denver Broncos kicker....I guess (?)
