. @AdamSchefter
If Patriots RB Stevan Ridley is active today, no sure thing, he is not expected to receive much if any carries.

Hope Schefter is right.

Per Adam Scheftner if Stevan Ridley is active today, which he said is no sure thing, he is not expected to receive much if any carries.

Schefter probably gave Josh McDaniels the password to his Twitter account.

Schefter may be correct, or he may be full of crap. Kevin Faulk is with the team in Houston. Faulk's job is to work with Ridley to help him get over his fumble-itis. Schefter was full of crap about Gronkowski coming back and was just a part of the Patriots' sand bagging operation.

Is he really? Where did your read that? Why do you want this to be true op? I'd hope that they figured out his fumbling problem and we see him out there today without a fumble.

Ridley's drops over the last three weeks are a concern, but I don't get why people are giving up on this guy. He is a top RB in this league.

Kevin Faulk is an excellent guy to be working with Ridley. There haven't been many RBs who fumbled more over their first three or four years in the league than Faulk did. Faulk found ways to cure his fumble problems and became one of the most sure-handed RBs in the league almost never laying the ball on the turf. Riley can cure his problems too.

Ridley has skills that are rare in NFL RBs. It would be stupid for the Pats to write this guy off. They need to work with him and fix what is wrong with him.

BTW, don't bet on this report being correct. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats leaked out that they are limiting Ridley and turn around and make him a focal point of the offense.

I agree; after seeing this tweet I expect Ridley to start and carry 20+ times

It may ultimately be true, but I seriously doubt players or coaches are divulging game plans to Shefter. As much as he seems to get an inside track on injuries and player transactions, this would go a little beyond that since it provides advance information to the opponent. If by 'expect', he means what he expects, not an unreasonable opinion but no more.

I still believe he needs to run now or not at all. Fix this problem in the games the Pats should win or just put him on the shelf.

Tanguay and Gresh on 98.5 FM reported that Faulk was with the team when they arrived at Reliant just after 10 a.m. this morning. I suspect we'll see some Ridley carries today just to give him a chance to get his confidence back.

I don't know if Faulk is actually in Houston, but Faulk has been working with Ridley and has worked with him in the past.

Come on Rob. Your a great poster, but you really think Ridley is a top RB in the league? You can't name 15 RBs better, or even 10? How is a slow RB with no receiving skills a special skill set?

I think if he fixes his fumbling he'll continue to be a good system back, nothing more, nothing less.

If this is true, its such a pity. The guy is very talented, I just wish he would be able to solve his fumble issues.

It appears most Pats fans no longer trust Ridley. I am inclined to give him a longer rope remembering how Kevin Faulk turned out. This seems to be a game where we can ease Ridley back into form.

My concern is, in throwing in the towel, we could see SR tearing it up for another team after he cures the fumbles.

Not top 3-5, but in the 5-8 range. And no I can't name 10-15 RBs better than Ridley and neither can you at least without getting ridiculous names. Even this year with his time reduced due to fumbling problems, the guy is making big plays out of nothing when there are zero holes to run through.

I don't know any "system RBs" capable of running for 1,200 yards.

And BTW, many of the top RBs in this league have zero receiving skills.

Sorry, no offense, but you are not looking at Ridley objectively.

This is just my opinion:

Peterson
Charles
Lynch
McCoy
Forte
Morris
Bush
Gore
Murray
Martin
Foster (healthy)
Stacy
Bernard
Spiller/Jackson

That's leaving Rice/MJD off the list, assuming they may be cooked.

Morris is a system back that ran for 1,600 yards.

Ridley is officially inactive. Hopefully, this is a motivation tool over giving up on him.

He's a top RB in this league like other people have said above me.

If anything, he should be given a shot against Houston because given the chance we get a big lead, we can put him in and see how he does. Obviously with a big lead if he fumbled it, the team wouldn't have much to lose. Whereas he'd pretty much have everything to lose.

I wouldn't put half these people on the list over Ridley. Some of them I wouldn't even put in my top 15 RBs in the league.

Again, Ridley put up 1263 yards and 12 TDs last year. When his head is right, he is an absolute stud and far better than several of the guys you listed and better than a few more. He just needs to get his head right.

Could you explain what Houston's defensive staff may do differently with this knowlegde between the time the tweet was posted and kickoff?

Do you think they de-activate their best run stuffers - give them the day off - since the Pat's most explosive back may not get many carries?

Do you think they watch last minute film on Bolden since they didn't during the week when the expected Ridley to carry 30 times with the predictability of BB/McDaniel' and their primary back system getting 90% of carries the last few years?

What exactly is the advantage?

It worked , I think, with Thompkins, so let's hope it works here.
