Squealers' Coach Tomlin Cheats to Prevent TD

All Steeler fans who still wanna whine about "Bellicheat" can gobble my fat ****

Looks like an accident to me.

I wish the returner veered away from the pursuit and not Tomlin and just crashed right into him. Would have been a lot better result for Baltimore since at that point it would be virtually impossible not to call the interference on Tomlin. The impact probably would have wiped the smirk off his face too.

Also - although not reading it here, I assume Tomlin claims he was staring at the jumbo tron which happens to be at the opposite end of the stadium. For those of you to watch a game on the sidelines (any level) or the first few rows at the 50 know that sometimes on certain plays you can't see anything.

It was called last week on (I forget now) as a team "unsportsmanlike conduct" and awarded 15 yards tacked on the end of the play. I watched that yesterday but could not hear it and was interested in Tomlin's smirk. Glad it was brought up here.

That was a coach actually hitting and preventing a ref from getting downfield. Tomlin never touched him so I don't think a penalty could be called.

It was so intentional, he even steps further onto the field as Jacoby gets closer to throw him off his stride. Either way it should be a big fine, intentional or just totally dense to the point of endangering others.

Of course he's not going to say "Yeah, I just thought I trip him up a bit" lol

Possible explanation for that is humans are used to seeing themselves backwards in a reflection so that is the direction he went

So he just happened to step onto the field instead of away from it. Yeah that sounds likely. That was 100% on purpose.

You're entitled to your opinion, even if said opinion isn't based on unbiased or objective reasoning.

The penalty is for being on the white line, not for whatever results from it.

He's *right* on the edge, looks like his foot might even be touching the field. In any case, his upper body is over the field which would cause contact and likely caused Jones to cut back inside.

Tomlin knew exactly what he was doing.

Chris

Go to 45 secs at slow mo, He's looking right at Jacoby out of the corner of his eye then pops out and back in again. He didn't look surprised either, watch his reaction. Or it was Forest Gump level stupidity, standing on the field watching the jumbotron. Should be a big fine for either being a total dip**** or an intentional scumbag move.

NFL Videos

I don't think he intended to interfere with Jacoby

There was absolutely nothing unintentional about that one. He should not even be within two yards of where he was in the first place. I don't even know what dumb thought process led him to try that **** other than to feel clever somehow?? Jones should have just ploughed straight into him to get the interference call.

Look at Timlin's eyes....

he's not watching the jumbotron, he's looking over his shoulder until Jones get's in his peripheral vision. He can spew all the coach-speak he want, but I say he knew what the hell he was doing.

LOL! He even takes a step onto the field "to push himself out of the way". How convenient. Even Jones knew what was up.

Chris

Of course Jones did. He even said twice after the game that he'd have tried the same thing.

I think I remember the ref as having to go completely around the Jets assistant coach (towards the stands, therefore blocked of view), perhaps a few feet. Don't recall any contact.

The penalty was for being in the white area. Contact, obstruction or interference is not necessary, except for the fact that it makes it get noticed.

Tomlin deserves a hefty fine for that.

That's borderline cheating, if not already crossing the line (pun intended). That type of nonsense has no business being on the field. He should be ashamed of himself to even pull a bush league move like that.

I despise just about everything to do with the Steelers, but I have a hard time believing this was intentional and it's an enormous stretch to call it "cheating".

Still should have been a flag, and even a TD awarded. League will probably hit him with a well deserved fine. You can't have guys wandering around like that and not paying attention to where they're standing.

If Tomlin was watching the play on the JumboTron, like he says, he must have been well aware where Jones was on the field.

Tomlin sticks his foot onto the field at the precise moment Jones gets near him. No way in hell that was an accident, in my opinion:

Check it out, and see how he sticks his foot out on the field at just the right moment:

Jacoby should have whacked him. Refs would have had to throw a flag then.

and as a side benefit the resulting throw-down between the two teams might have put a few guys on IR and made sure both these jackazz teams dont come to the post season.

Probably better than trying to read Tomlin's body language would be for someone with access to Steelers game tapes to take a look and find out if in fact Tomlin regularly watches kickoff returns on jumbotrons and stands close to field.

It certainly looks bad, but the rational part of me says Tomlin didn't run to that spot at his own 40 yard line when he saw Jones rolling up his sideline all as part of some clever scheme. At least I haven't seen a video of him doing so.
