The non-call PI on Thompkins

in definite agreement, did you see our Offensive Line being as egregious/reciprocating in holding Denver's Defenders.

As i said, i typically don't see that in games as I'm watching...I didn't see our guys committing offenses, but was wondering if it was there.

I forget who it was (maybe Solder), but one of our guys tackled their LB on a run up the B gap by Bolden that got called. That was the most egregious thing I saw the Pats OL do all night.

The refs didn't call holding much either way, so they were consistent there. I believe they threw a flag on each team once (maybe twice). For the most part, they were letting the linemen play.

For those of you that remember Johnny Most calling the Celtics games between cigarettes, he absolutely hated Laimbeer and Aguirre and that Detroit team, referring to them as McFilthy and McNasty. He was as much a homer as Tommy Heinson. There was a Boston comedian who used to do a Most impression (probably lots of them in the '80's) and he had a very memorable bit:

"DJ brings the ball up, passes to McHale, over to Bird, and - Oh My God, Laimbeer pulls out a knife and stabs Bird! He just stabbed Bird! He's bleeding all over the court. AND THE FOUL IS CALLED ON BIRD!! OH MY GOD, THE FOUL IS ON BIRD!!"

These games have been sort of like that. Only not quite as funny.

In those games, McNasty was Rick Mahorn, not Aguirre (who was a very good player). The name was apt, and it fit.

As an aside, my father used to deliver Johnny's mail, and every so often I'd run into him at Dallas North (all this in Nashua, NH). A very colorful guy.

Gawd, those were the days!

Yeah, Jammer committed two PI's (and very obvious ones, at that) in a row and didn't get called for them. Brady boiled over after the non-call on Thompkins. Pioli said this morning on Sirius that he believed it was leftover after last Monday night combined with the two calls that Manning got on the drive before. In the end, the football gods made it up to the Pats in the form of Carter. :D

The fact that there was PI on consecutive plays and no call is what really bothers me. Even if that second ball was uncatchable, you make the call any way as a make up for the previous play. Refs do that all the time. It infuriated me.

With that said, the Patriots did get away with a lot of holding on WR's and TE's that didn't get called. I caught a lot of them on replays and even some in real time. It's all good, though, because Chandler Jones AND Robby Ninko were getting mugged all night and only got one (maybe two) calls.

I always thought it was Ruland and Mahorn and one of their mother's lived in the area and would complain so once in a while Most would say " Mrs. Ruland, your son did it again."

Let's see here...

The Broncos were essentially gift wrapped 17 points early. They held Chandler and Robbie on essentially every play. The got away with several illegal pick plays until Decker, the punk, finally made it too obvious to ignore. They got away with several obvious PIs that the Patriots in turn got called for. Their QB threw one of the lamest ducks that I've ever seen that got intercepted, only to be reversed on a bogus holding call...

Despite all of this, the Broncos still got dominated 34-7 in the second half/OT. It's fair to say, had they not gotten spotted that early lead due to self inflicted blunders, Denver were primed to get DESTROYED last night from the first jump. They're lucky it didn't turn out that way because they got embarrassed after halftime.

Even with the refs on their side, the Patriots smoked 'em. Impressive.

Was Ruland and perhaps the greatest nicknames ever by an announcer.

Lambeer & Mahorn were McFilthy & McNasty, I forget the order.

more blaming the refs....gotta love it :bricks:

Too bad you can't stand the truth. The ref's already stole two games this year and would have gift wrapped another for the league's golden boy if we were't lucky on the punt.

No one is blaming the refs for anything, the Patriots won the game. There's absolutely no way you can look at that play and tell me it wasn't interference. Do you also think picking up the flag against the Panthers was a good decision? What about calling a penalty on the Patriots for the first time in NFL history, while the Jets did the exact same thing earlier in the game? Is that okay too? Refs make mistakes, when those mistakes cost the Patriots, they should be talked about. There's nothing more annoying than fans who act high and mighty, as if they are above complaining about officials, and think every single loss is 100% deserved and the fair result.

I for one am blaming the refs, especially for the Carolina game. There's no way there shouldn't have been one more play in that game. It was textbook faceguarding/PI...

Not saying the Pats would have won but they deserved the chance.

Since it's a judgement call.....anyone can say what they want as there are always two sides to every story. But any football fan would have to agree .....the refs jobbed us...but we will have the last laugh.......:beatingcoming:
