You usually don't associate a 34-31 game with a poor quarterback performance, but lost in last night's excitement was just how abysmal Manning was. 19-36, 150 yards. The guy has never exactly been known as a good cold weather player, but that's atrocious.

Barring something crazy, Denver is likely going to have to win at least 2 playoff games played in either Denver, KC or New England - not to mention the Super Bowl is in East Rutherford, NJ. Not exactly warm-weather cities. I can't imagine they're feeling as confident today as they were in, say, mid-October.

Go to Broncos Country. I've been getting my posts over there deleted left and right. Most of them are defending him and jumping all over the few people that are pointing out that he had a bad game. The people defending his play seem to be in pure denial that (1) last night happened and (2) they have no shot of winning the Super Bowl with him as their quarterback, especially not a Super Bowl played in New York in February.

I troll a Bronco forum pretty hard and have been since the 2011 season.

Believe me, Bronco fans are all kool aid drinking idiots. They're not bright enough to be crapping bricks.

Yeah, after latching on to the Colts legacy like a parasite, you would think they drafted Manning they're so zealous in their defense of him.

It's funny :)

What would a house made of bricks crapped by John Elway go for in Denver?

The good people of Habitat for Humanity should be banging on the door at Mile High to see if the Broncos wouldn't mind donating all those bricks they're crapping for their next housing project.

The Chiefs have the Broncos served up on a platter with the injuries they took on defense last night, and Welker and Manning coming off their worst games of the season.

Andy Reid and his guys must be breaking down film that shows the Patriots stopping the Broncos passing game. The Chiefs have the size and strength up the middle to stop the Broncos running game, especially if Knowshon Moreno can't go in KC.

there was a Donk fan in here earlier in the week defending Manning and his cold weather QB'ing, saying Denver's a cold weather city. I don't think they had too many cold weather games last year at home, not cold like it was last night with the wind. Denver can be 50 in January on any given Sunday.

I don't think it's as black and white as Manning is terrible in the cold. Yes, it's true, he certainly struggled with velocity last night and that was in contrast to arguably the best cold weather QB of all-time. However, the Broncos still have plenty of hope.

1. Julius Thomas was a major loss, as tight ends have ripped that Pats defense this year. The Patriots match up extremely well with Denver if J. Thomas is out, since Talib might be the league's best matchup versus D. Thomas while their #2 corner (Dennard/Ryan) is also very adequate to contain Decker. Jacob Tamme roasted the Pats last night, so just imagine what J. Thomas might have done.

2. Manning is also playing with a high ankle sprain, and last night's game was REALLY cold, not just cold. I'm not sure that they'll need to deal with such extreme wind chill again.

3. Biggest point is that the Patriots allowed 400 plus yards to the Broncos because they completely sold out to the pass all game, figuring it's better to allow 6 yard runs than 40 yard passes. Manning did not play as badly as people on here are making it out to be. He took what the defense gave him for the most part, and the Broncos had some success moving the football. Had Manning really been as awful as pundits are claiming, why not just stack 8 in the box to stop the run? I think we know the answer to that.

4. Not trying to defend Manning- again he didn't play well and often struggles in the cold- but I hardly think Denver is cooked. If I were a Broncos fan, I would be much more concerned about that defense. I think they are pretenders on that side of the ball.

Manning was a moron going to Denver over Arizona. If memory serves, his primary reason for making that choice was he didn't want to have to face his brother in the playoffs. That would not exactly have been a problem over the past 2 years. :singing: :singing:

I don't think it's as black and white as Manning is terrible in the cold...

His career numbers, not just last night's numbers, disagree with you.

Just FYI there is one thread going on over there, I forget the title, where the majority of the posters are in fact, ****ting bricks about Manning's arm strength and cold/windy weather "problem." A couple of people went so far as to say that the Doinks "will never win the SB with Peyton" and "the only way Peyton gets a ring is if he plays in a dome."

I know they're a bunch of front-running, misguided homers over there but that thread is actually pretty level-headed.

didn't the colts open the roof when the bronco's visited recenty.

Speaks volumes really.

I've always found Broncos Country to be a relatively calm forum. If you want to see something that borders on JI levels of insanity, go check out the Orange Mane forum.

About #3,law and troy brown said an interesting thing. Manning goes by the book and takes what the defense gives and doesnt take the ball/game in his own hands to go out and win it in clutch situations throwing to his players .

OrangeMane is the reason why I was posting on Broncos Country.

I don't know how anyone can say manning had a good game...every pass he threw was a wobbly duck or a knuckle ball...the pats dared him to pass outside and he couldnt

Maybe because they think you're naive

I don't entirely agree with #1 in terms of Julius Thomas specifically. His exclusion from the game has been overstated. Denver got the same production from the TE spot that they've gotten all year with him starting. Tamme was their leading receiver. Julius Thomas is a good TE playing with a great QB. His inclusion in this game would have given Denver the same production they got from Tamme as it was. Not worried at all about him being in the game should the Pats meet them again in the playoffs.
