i would expect him to be practicing.....and a corresponding roster move as well

...he has been practicing for two weeks now.

I wouldnt expect the roster move until later in the week. More for the Panthers to prepare for if you dont tip your hand as to who will not be here. Plus you never know something could happen between now and then changing the decision.

i realize this....just wondering if they had practiced yet, today is the first day for an injury report for the week

what is the drop dead date on a roster move?

and any speculation on who goes?

Players are off today; everything is moved back a day for MNF.

Since he was injured, misspellings of his name have decreased by 85%.

FWIW, he practiced yesterday as well, although the team wasn't required to issue a practice report until tomorrow. Only Gregory was absent from practice.

They might as well wait until Sunday to make the roster move and take the time to be 100 percent sure he's ready to go. It doesn't matter either way.

You mean moved forward?

Mmmm, I think "back" is right. Like if someone is injured and the return is delayed, isn't his return date usually "pushed back"? or if a deadline is extended, isn't it "pushed back"?

Could be wrong.

I think many need to scale back their initial expectations for Vereen, he has not played football since the first week of September and will need to work his way back into things. If people expect to see the player that played week 1 in Buffalo I fear they will be let down.

Vereen will be a good addition but he probably will not be back in football shape until week 15.

I disagree, he broke his wrist (and still played) which means he could still easily exercise/run etc, plus he was only supposed to be out for a few weeks initially. He might need some time to get back up to speed with competitive football, but that should take a game at most, it won't take 4 games for him to get back up to speed. It took Gronk less than that and he had 5 surgeries

Doubt week 15. He has practiced a few weeks only didn't know he broke that little bone. I say it takes him maybe a week to get in football shape. And we really need him for 3rd downs and as a rz target.

He isn't Gronkowski. I'm not saying he will be poor but people are getting ambitious with their expectations.

Well, one important aspect to consider is that Ridley went down rather early with a fumble, which helped Vereen to get more production and put up very good numbers. I don't think that is the "typical" version of Vereen that we'll see in most weeks, although he can certainly help to put up 30-40-50 yds on the ground and help by adding another few catches or so.

The general thinking seems to be that he'll receive around 10-12-14 touches a game that are combined via air and ground.

I don't think that it's anything like the Gronkowski situation, so I don't think it will take him too long to get into football shape. I'm sure he's still been keeping himself in top cardio etc, with the past 3-4 weeks of weight bearing exercises. It was only a small bone in his wrist. I do think that he'll be blended in a bit at first though, so maybe that is what you mean.

Here's the thing, they need him to be a major player this week, week 15, maybe not so much. Vereen is exactly what you want against a front seven like this, and i would be surprised if Ridley ended up with more touches even though it is Vereen's first week back. I expect them to make Carolina's DL go side to side as much as possible. More up tempo and a good dose of Vereen on the perimeter and Gronk down the middle. I doubt Dobson gets as much action unless they are successful backing their pass rush off. This would also be a great week for Amendola to return to full form, they are going to have to be at their best offensively next Monday night.

That's an excellent observation, Ivan; and although it could be argued that would be the case just about every week, going up against a great front seven like CAR's would point to a guy like Vereen seeing more touches.

I have a feeling that we may find it extremely difficult to run, and end up with an unbalanced attack towards the end, unless we're in control of the game more than I expect. Being able to take advantage of the RB passes vs pressure and going more up tempo is likely our best option.
